Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer that likes a challenge. A key component of our organization is an acquisition integration team in the Cloud Operations-Acquired Services organization. Each acquired product will come with its own infrastructure, processes, and technologies. We need a team of motivated engineers that can take an unknown environment, assess it, learn it quickly, and work to bring it up to meet the security, operational, and compliance requirements of Oracle NetSuite, post-acquisition. This could mean patching to current software, kernel, OS, and application versions. Or it could mean moving complete technology stacks to a different technology standard. You’ll have to opportunity to use your varying skills and experience to enhance and shape the posture of each new acquisition. This is a unique opportunity and role you generally don’t find in large organizations. The challenges will vary with each one, and you will be able to bring your depth and breadth of skills to bear, as well as learn new ones!

 

Responsibilities include implementing or contributing to:

  •  Configuration and infrastructure management
    • Deploying security tools (Qualys, Illumio, Tanium, etc.)
    • Vulnerability remediation
    • OS
    • Network Configuration (cloud-based tools – WAF, VPC, etc.)
    • Databases
    • User management
  • Deployment of automation and configuration management tools
  • Analyzing and supporting infrastructure in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, etc.)
  • Monitoring system performance and recommend corrective action.
    • Configuration of logging and log management
    • Configuration/deployment of monitoring and alerting tools
  • Documenting current environment and ongoing maintenance of documentation
  • Ticket creation and tracking
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure continuous and reliable delivery of service

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • AWS or other cloud platform administration
  • Scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and PowerShell
  • Containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS
  • Linux and Linux Administration
  • Technical documentation and diagramming experience
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, and Confluence)
  • Security tooling management/deployment (Qualys, Tanium, Illumio, Splunk, etc.)
  • Configuration management tools (SALTSTACK, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.)
  • Management of cloud-based resources
  • Experience with logging and log management (Splunk, Graylog, Logstash, Kibana, etc.)
  • Self-motivated and possess solid critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Experience with Databases a huge plus (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Mongo, Oracle, DB2, etc.)
  • Industry certifications a plus (RHCSA, Oracle Certified Professional, GCUX, AWS certified, CISSP, etc.)
  • Experience with CI/CD  pipelines (Jenkins, Gitlab/Github, Bamboo, TeamCity, etc.)
  • Knowledge and usage of encryption/keys in a cloud-based environment
Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.

Responsible for creating and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliablility of the system. Manage the load configurations of a central data communication processor and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. Coordinate terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing. Approves action requests and specifies purchase requisitions. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers. May play a team leader role for developing System Administrators.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Eight years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment. BS in Computer Science or related field.
