Key responsibilities

Performance Management and Business Analysis
  • Participate in the setting of business objectives and targets.
  • Analyze monthly reporting received from shared service finance team to identify actionable insights for the business and detect and discuss areas of divergent performance against target.
  • Act as a facilitator to analyze and challenge performance; ensure shortfalls in performance and opportunities for high performance are uncovered; and ensure that robust benefit tracking is in place.
  • Drive monthly financial reporting, financial performance, RoFo, budget and control cycles in APAC and for APAC management and Damco Center explaining key issues and summarizing the overall story line and actions and list progress against that.
  • Engage the organization to embrace and use ‘one set of numbers’ through training and communication. Ensure decision making is based on robust data and is underpinned by logical assumptions.

Collaboration
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with remote location teams.
  • Area head of Finance and their finance teams.
  • Shared service finance team. Ensure clear split of responsibilities is maintained.
  • Group functional teams.

Be an active sparring partner with the business, act through data, business insight and excellent relationships.

Projects and continuous improvement
  • Support and drive efficiency/improvement projects.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects to support key initiatives. This includes the creation of business cases for appropriate projects and ensuring these are signed off by relevant stakeholders per the authority matrix.
  • Take an active role in designing plans for improving area performance and objectives on cross functional basis.
  • Partner with regional or Center cross-functional teams to support District and/or Center objectives, projects or customer implementations and Interact with Damco Center Finance to help promptly roll-out new/modified global procedures across APAC.
  • Work with Districts to validation investment proposals.

Plannig and Forecasting
  • Support the Global CFO and CENFIN team in target setting and ROFO across APAC, as well as monitoring and follow up on the results.

Drive finance excellence in the Districts
  • Participate in Finance deep dive visits and other ad hoc visits to areas aimed at spreading best practice and driving process and performance improvements throughout APAC.

We are looking for

  • The right candidate will hold a degree or equivalent in finance or economics as well as 5-10 years of relevant work experience and excellent proficiency in English.
  • Strong analytical skills with solid understanding of the logistics/transport market.
  • Demonstrated experience in conveying finance matters to business and ability to leverage data in business decisions. Commercial acumen to understand and challenge numbers based on a business agenda.
  • Ambitious self-starter who thrives to work independently and with people with a different functional background. Highly result oriented, ready to take challenges and able to work under pressure.
  • Comfortable working with large amounts of data and can with easily extract main conclusions.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority and engage confidently with leaders at all levels. Ability to manage conflict, seeing it as an opportunity. Can find common ground among all involved stakeholders and get cooperation with minimum noise.
  • Experience in working closely with offshore teams in service Centers a plus.
  • Must be able to effectively cope with change. Changing gears comfortably, can handle risk and uncertainty.
  • Proven strong communication skills ensuring clear, direct and appropriate communication at multiple organizational levels.
