This cloud solution engineer role comprises a combination of both technical and soft skills. You contribution will be pivotal in helping customers move their on-premises databases to Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure, on- or off-premise. Engaging with customers to understand and extend their data centre strategy and help design, build and deploy managed database infrastructure, will be your responsibility.

 

Cloud Solution Engineers take responsibility for a customer solution from the initial design right through to deployment and operation. What You’ll Do

By engaging directly with the customer you will gain a deep understanding of their requirements and then identify how their on-premises estate can best be migrated with Oracle Database Infrastructure Services. You will work in a highly collaborative virtual team that includes infrastructure operators, operations engineers and cloud service specialists. As a team you will design and implement cloud infrastructure on- and/ or off-premise, define the service migration roadmap, define a deployment architecture, and manage the implementation for the customer. In conjunction with the local sales team, one of your responsibilities will be to deliver compelling customer presentations that illustrate the architectural vision and articulate the benefits and value delivered by your solutions. Working with an international implementation team you will help to ensure that solutions are delivered and supporting cloud operations you will be asked to provide intimate knowledge about your customers individual implementations. In addition, you’ll be working with development improving and building new services.

 

As cloud solution engineer with focus on database infrastructure, you help our most critical clients to improve the performance and security of existing database programs and reduce operational efforts using Oracle’s database cloud services. You will assist our largest customer to design database centric programs, leverage database and user reports, as well as system information, to analyze existing database services and optimize performance as well as security of their database service. Sometimes that will mean to write scripts that automate deployment and operations processes. Occasionally, you will perform debugging procedures to resolve conflicts, mentor database administrators and providing them with technical support and adhere to best practices in securely storing, backing up, and archiving data. As part of our cloud engineering team, you will document experiences related to database design, configuration, and performance and keep track of the latest developments and best practices in database engineering.

Required Skills/Experience

Your enthusiasm, knowledge, and passion for customer success will help us become the number one cloud company in the world. Architectural skills and experience are clearly important aspects to this role. These include;

  • A minimum of five years' experience in database engineering
  • Extensive experience with Oracle’s ExaData technology, Oracle Database and/or MySQL Software
  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, information technology, computer science, or similar
  • Oracle database certifications
  • Sound knowledge of best practices in database engineering and data security
  • In-depth knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL), DB-CLI and at least one scripting language (Shell, Python, etc.)
  • Basic network and cloud infrastructure Know-how
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills
