Preferred Qualifications
The role of a Technical Analyst is a cross disciplinary role, interfacing with a wide variety of offerings in our Higher Education products. In this position, you will ensure delivering solutions using software engineering and technical implementation best practices.
 
3-5 years' experience relevant to this position including 2-3 years in a software engineer and/or technical implementation specialist capacity. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field is required.  Direct experience in Higher Education a plus.

 
Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Act as an Engineer specializing in the delivery of technical solutions meeting customer requirements.
  • Deliver innovative solutions utilizing Oracle SaaS capabilities.
  • Assist with providing estimates for technical tasks.
  • Develop and maintain an in depth and up to date knowledge of Higher Education Oracle products and services.
  • Develop solutions that follow product development guidelines and are in line with established build and design standards.
  • Collaborate by sharing knowledge and best practice within the department and across lines of business.
  • Develop peer network through which to provide and receive product and skills assistance.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies and Background

  • Applicants should have solid experience developing custom solutions, applications, or scripts using Java or a similar language, ideally including unit testing and other engineering best practices.
  • Knowledge and experience of SaaS strategies and implementations.
  • Knowledge and experience of Oracle’s SaaS Applications preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience of Oracle’s PeopleSoft Applications helpful.
  • Able to perform complex problem solving and should be comfortable working according to company policies and processes.
  • Good business analysis and strong technology skills.
  • Experience in working as part of an external/internal virtual team or alone as required by priorities.
  • Experience in collaborating with offshore development teams desirable.
  • Coding design experience taking into consideration things such as application performance, performance tuning,  transaction management, capacity planning, and non functional requirements.

Candidates will be educated to degree level and ideally have proven delivery experience in technology areas, such as:

  • Java & Javascript
  • J2EE
  • Python or other script oriented languages
  • Understanding and exposure to the following, in no particular order:
  • Oracle ADF
  • Oracle JET
  • Spring
  • Oracle OAF
  • Oracle BI / XML Publisher (Or Equivalent Reporting Tool)
  • Oracle OBIEE
  • Oracle AIA
  • Oracle ODI
  • Data Warehouse
  • Identity Management
Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will perform high-level design based on provided external specifications. Specify, design and implement minor changes to existing software architecture. Build highly complex enhancements and resolve complex bugs. Build and execute unit tests and unit plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering as necessary to discuss minor changes to product functionality and to ensure quality and consistency across specific products.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
