The scope of work of the Policy and Development Division covers the following:

• Develop regulatory policies and requirements for the insurance sector
• Develop and co-ordinate proposals to promote the competitiveness and sustainable development of the insurance industry
• Collaborate with standard-setting bodies and fellow regulators, both local and overseas
• Participate in international standard setting bodies
• Engage industry and other stakeholders on policy issues concerning the insurance industry
• Provide secretarial support for statutory committees

Reporting to the Senior Manager (Section Head), Policy and Development, the Assistant Manager will assume some of the following, depending on the posting:

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research and benchmarking studies on issues concerning the insurance industry and regulatory regimes in Hong Kong and other jurisdictions
• Assist in drafting guidelines on insurance supervision
• Provide support for developing policy and legislative proposals
• Assist in liaising with industry stakeholders and other financial regulators
• Provide secretarial support for statutory committees
• Other duties as assigned by senior management to facilitate the administration of the statutory functions of IA

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree or professional qualification in finance, insurance, economics, law, accounting, or related disciplines
• Minimum 3 years' relevant work experience in accountancy, audit, insurance, compliance or regulatory fields
• Knowledge of the local regulatory requirements, insurance products, industry practices and market dynamics of the insurance business
• Knowledge of insurance regulation in Mainland China, or work experience in a local or overseas insurance regulatory agency will be preferable
• Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Fluency in Putonghua will be an advantage
