Bartender - Part time

Job Description
All duties will be performed in accordance with The Fairmont Empress’
commitment to luxury service standards
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and pour beverages on a cash and host basis
- Prompt, efficient and courteous service of beverages
- Create an upbeat, energetic and fun atmosphere
- Handle cash wine sales
- Prepare consumption sheets and cash out
- Account for stock (inventory control)
- Clean bar and storage spaces
- Suggest up selling of food and beverage to guests
- Provide information and guidance to guests
- Balance cash at end of shift
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of two (2) years recent, (in the last 5 years) full-time experience in the preparation, pouring and service of beverages
- Completely fluent English language skills, both written and verbal
- "Serving It Right" and “Food Safe” Certification
- Thorough knowledge of cocktail trends, knowledge of classic cocktails and preparations
- Working knowledge of standard bar equipment
- Completion of a practical bartending test
- Excellent organizational skills with the proven ability to perform well with minimal supervision
- A high level of responsibility and commitment with proven success in relationship building
- Driven focus on upselling
- Ability to observe and detect guests to provide prompt service
- Impeccable grooming and presentation
- Must be bondable
- Physical ability to perform the requirements of the job, including:
- Standing/walking for 90% of shift
- Performing repetitive work
- Bending and twisting
- Lifting and carrying heavy loads
NOTE: The position of Bartender is physically demanding. The successful applicant must be physically capable of standing/walking for 90% of shift, performing repetitive work, bend, twist, as well as lifting and carrying heavy loads.
