Position Summary:

The Chemical Repackaging Manager coordinates and manages the activities of workers engaged in repackaging and labeling of hazardous and non-hazardous materials, order filling, labeling and disposal of waste. This role is part of the site leadership team and helps to develop the strategic repack department projects to support the site goals. This role reports to the Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership to assigned staff by performing the following: leading organizational change; developing and empowering staff; cultivating relationships; putting staff in a position to succeed, meeting their personal career goals while also achieving organizational goals; building effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals; driving engagement and creating a climate where team members are motivated to do their best
  • Establish the overall vision and direction of the repack and labeling department
  • Ensures EH&S policies and procedures are followed and holds others accountable for a safe work environment.
  • Lead the team to follow all quality and regulatory procedures.
  • Work with the expeditor to assign priorities, back order assessment, and other work to be completed.
  • Troubleshoot problems in department- Responsible for problem-solving any discrepancies in orders, materials, and overall repackaging process.
  • Works closely with customer service and product management.
  • Assess needed materials for repacking- Equipment, tools, Material Kanban levels, etc.
  • Implement lean manufacturing and PPI activities to establish the continuous improvement environment.
  • Manage and control departmental costs
  • Work with the global team for new packaging alignment and other projects.
  • Waste Disposal- Assist in effective, safe disposal of waste according to regulations and policies using temperature-controlled vaults and specialized containers (when assistance is required).
  • Ensure repackaging and labeling initiatives are established and followed and are maintained on a consistent basis.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure products are packaged and labeled accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate and manage Repack and Labeling employee pay and absence requests in Etime
  • Ensure repackaging and labeling components are readily available at all times and are ordered accordingly.
  • Responsible for contributing to audit readiness and for participating in EH&S audits with internal Company groups, regulatory agencies, and customers.
  • Responsible for reporting all near misses, accidents, and dangerous occurrences through the appropriate Company procedures to ensure an investigation is initiated.
  • Cooperate with all root cause investigations and follow corrective actions and compliance with Company policies and procedures, and all state and federal regulations occurs within department.
  • Support the Company’s commitment for environmental health & safety by applying ISO 14001.
  • Hold team accountable for maintaining agreed upon metric levels. (Back orders, same day ship, Packs per hour, total output.)
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years leadership experience:
    • 4 year undergraduate degree highly desired
    • Equivalency: Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory control functions
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the customers; including tact to handle sensitive matters.
  • Ability to work with others and develop them into great leaders.
  • Must be have strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience in working in a chemical warehouse environment a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the performance and work of direct reports.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • Effective and strategical verbal/written communication skills at all levels.
  • Willing to get hands dirty when needed.
  • Ability to delegate tasks to a group of people. Ability to think outside of the box and strategic thinking.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • This position may require some heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs. heavier weights with assistance). Must be able to handle chemicals in a safe manner while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
