Job Description

Your Role and Responsibilities

The Cisco UCS SME will work as an escalation point for the global UCS Center of Excellence. They will work with teams to design and build new implementations of Compute as a Service. They will lead global teams, helping in critical situations, up-skilling, and developing/design processes to support deployments. This position should have a broad understanding of various operating systems, especially in open source areas.

  • Ability to translate different business strategies into comprehensive, pragmatic technology strategies and execution plans (roadmaps) to satisfy business strategy.
  • Ability to design and deliver solutions that factor in system performance, usability, quality, cross-system interdependencies, scalability while accounting for development and maintenance costs.
  • Strong communication skills (written/verbal) with varied audiences, including excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience modeling as-is and to-be architectures based on business requirements.
  • Must be a self-starter, strong leader, and can work independently with no supervision.
  • Basic knowledge in Agile methodologies.
  • Fluent in English.



 


 

Introduction

Under GTS a Cisco Unified Compute Systems (UCS) requires advanced knowledge of UCS Hardware, UCS Manager and optionally Cisco Intersight. You will need hands-on experience with Cisco UCS Compute, including the converged Network and Storage management via Fabric Interconnects of at least five years. Cisco B-Series is important with optional experience in managing C-Series and Cisco HX (HyperFlex) This includes management of LAN and SAN connectivity, implementing role based access control and configuration and maintaining service profiles. In short, you will serve as a UCS subject matter expert.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

At least five years of experience in:
  • Physical and virtual (UCS/VMware/RHEV/RHV) infrastructure.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot issues within the complex UCS implementation.
  • Evaluate the data center solution design and design process regarding contemporary data center challenges, data center solution architecture, and components.
  • Configure and manage Cisco UCS devices using unified I/O networking for LAN and SAN connectivity.
  • Assess the requirements and performance characteristics of the data center computing solutions.
  • Employ design steps to size the Cisco UCS solution for given data center requirements.
  • Evaluate and design Cisco UCS solution LAN, SAN, and virtual access layer connectivity.
  • Recognize and design Cisco UCS solution server deployment.
  • Experience with Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnects and Fabric Extenders.


 

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience


At least ten years of experience in:
  • Implementing and managing an enterprise-wide virtual infrastructure using Red Hat Virtualization, Ansible, and CloudForms
  • Experience in explaining difficult concepts to decision-makers to help shape the technology strategy
  • Implementing infrastructure using VMware vSphere, vRA, vRO, SRM
  • Participate in technical architecture discussions to determine the most-appropriate scalable model
  • Champion the appropriate use of technology and provide leadership in balancing technical elegance with functional requirements and practical benefits, as we implement and integrate technologies
  • Provide coordination across technical teams to encourage application of standards and adherence to standards-based methodologies
  • Keep current with industry technologies and trends
