Job Description

Preferred Qualifications

 

An OCI Cloud Architect is expected to possess strong infrastructure and consulting skills and contribute to the physical/logical infrastructure architecture design, review and implementation of Projects.

This job requires the ability to work in a flexible schedule up to midnight India time to overlap with the US Cloud Engineering team.

 

Responsibilities:

•   Design/Develop & Implement Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) per end-user requirement/specs

•  Automate common infrastructure tasks / customer requests by using Python, shell scripting or other cloud tooling.

•   Develop reusable Intellectual Property (IP) for the Cloud Engineering Delivery organization to help drive delivery efficiency and customer value.

•   Provide architectural oversight & support for new implementations, upgrades, and migrations on/to Oracle cloud infrastructure.

•   Effective collaboration with infrastructure teams, application development teams, testing and release teams

•   Mentor junior IaaS resources to expand the team's capacity and establish consistency among delivery consultants

•   Identify and quickly escalate potential issues with solution design, packaged software, client resources, or anything else that impacts your ability to deliver according to expectations.

 

Accountabilities:

•   Be a trusted technical advisor to customers and solve complex Cloud Infrastructure and Networking challenges.

•   Create and deliver best practices recommendations and technical presentations adapting to different levels of key business and technical stakeholders

 

Required Knowledge & skills:

 

•   10+ years of work experience in any combination of engineering, and consulting in cloud computing, with increasing responsibilities, and with a special focus on infrastructure design and automation from the networking layer up.

•   Hands on skills with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or solutions from other providers, such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure etc. would be of required, especially with PaaS and IaaS.

•   Ability to create, update, understand architecture diagrams based on end-user specs & implement the same.

•   Experience in Linux & Windows administration.

•   In depth knowledge of various cloud & on-premise infrastructure components & networking.

•   Good understanding of general storage technologies, implementation methods and techniques.

•   Good understanding of IaaS Compute and operating systems, and compute migration methodologies and implementation techniques.

•   Working knowledge of Database.

•   Team player with strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills

•   Strong consulting skills to work in a professional manner with customer IT and business users

 

Desired Skills:

•   Experience in designing & implementing complex Hybrid Architectures that span across on-Prem, and Cloud (including multi-cloud)

•   Strong hands-on experience with Python, Terraform, Ansible and other cloud provisioning & tooling.

•   Knowledge and understanding of DevOps and cloud computing with hands-on experience in many of the following technologies:  GIT, Terraform / Puppet, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes.

•   Experience in integrating Clouds with third-party tools such as Splunk, QRadar, Sumo Logic, Datadog, Grafana etc.

•   Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio

•   Experience with implementations with Cloud Security (CASB, Oracle Data Safe, WAF) & code security etc.

•   Experience migrating workloads from on-premises into Cloud, or between Clouds.

•   Strong knowledge of networking that includes Software Defined Networks in cloud environments and understanding of VPN solutions, MPLS, and enterprise network equipment like routers, firewalls, and switches.

•   Working knowledge of Active Directory

•   Networking and Virtualization expertise With Oracle VM, VMWare, KVM, Hyper-V

•   Background in Oracle on-premise technology products, especially in the area of Oracle Middleware (Weblogic, SOA, BPM), or database (RAC, Data Guard, Golden Gate)

•   Analysis of cloud strategies, design and development of tools for Oracle products deployment in OCI.

•   Proven ability in performing rapid assessments of clients’ internal technology landscape and targeting use cases and deployments for Oracle Cloud technology.

•   OCI knowledge/ certification is preferred.

•   Experience in Multi-cloud architectures, PaaS service connectivity is highly desirable.

•   Experience with physical networking, understanding routing, firewalls etc is highly desirable

 

As a member of the Support organization, your focus is to deliver post-sales support and solutions to the Oracle customer base while serving as an advocate for customer needs. This involves resolving post-sales non-technical customer inquiries via phone and electronic means, as well as, technical questions regarding the use of and troubleshooting for our Electronic Support Services. A primary point of contact for customers, you are responsible for facilitating customer relationships with Support and providing advice and assistance to internal Oracle employees on diverse customer situations and escalated issues.

As a Senior Principal Systems Engineer, you are a guru, with strong expertise across the stack & tiers (application and system), focused in the creation and management of business solutions using Oracle technology, the operations surrounding it, and the Oracle services infrastructure needed to achieve the highest service levels (e.g., availability, performance, etc.) and consequent high customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for setting overall technology direction for key areas to invest resources in, building internal expertise and leveraging knowledge within the Support organization. You will be expected to resolve and help guide resolution of multiple highly difficult and complex problems and escalations involving several product areas, while providing consultation to senior technical advisors on projects, reviewing their work and advising areas for self-advancement.

Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Bachelor*s and Master*s degree in Computer Science or Engineering (Advanced degree such as MBA and/or Ph.D. a plus) 10 years related experience prior to taking this position. In addition, extensive experience with Oracle*s core products, applications, and tools. Only proven top performing candidates of high integrity in previous job positions/grades are considered.
