We are looking to expand our Security Services team (currently 8) within our Cloud Systems Engineering organization (currently 50). In search for those with experience in systems administration and ideally any kind of development/coding background (we do infrastructure as code).

Within Security Services we provide the underlying infrastructure readiness to the Security organization so they can focus only on the application layer. This is an engineering role although some interest in security is expected/desirable.

The team is based in Brno, but we don’t mind if you are located somewhere else in CZ or a nearby country, remote applicants are welcome and those that prefer to be at the office as well (in Brno or Prague).

What this team is not

We are not SRE (first response), we create and work on our projects however we own the services we build, so we are responsible for fixing/improving what does not work. No Oncalls, we only get escalations after SRE or Security cannot find/fix a given issue and we have teams all around the globe 24x7. We are not a maintenance team but we do keep our services in good shape.

 

About you

· You are focused on results, prefer to ship and course correct than wait until for perfection, however you are cautious and avoid unnecessary risks, especially in production and on Fridays.

· You want to master your craft and are willing to improve yourself and others around you (e.g., mentoring junior engineers), engineering is not your side hustle, on the contrary you dream on becoming an architect, fellow or distinguished engineer someday.

· You are a mature problem solver with a long attention span (more than 19 minutes) and can be relied upon with critical and important tasks.

 

Tech stack you will be exposed to:

· Centos 6.x/7.x and Oracle Enterprise Linux (RHEL) (bread and butter).

· Python and minor shell scripts.

· Oracle Cloud (constantly) + Classic infrastructure.

· Saltstack (most hires learn it in the first month, this is not a must).

· Terraform (some have experience others learn it on the job).

· KVM / Vagrant (We virtualize and use Vagrant for testing).

· Security & logging systems: Illumio, Tanium, qualys, rsyslog, etc.

 

Qualifications/skills required:

· A degree in anything (diversity in thinking is good) or relevant IT experience.

· +3 years of Linux professional experience.

· Comfortable with shell scripting and tools (sed, awk, egrep, etc.)

· Demonstrable Git knowledge.

· Good knowledge of networking, TCP/IP suite and major components.

· Bonus points for: a) experience w/cloud, b) Experience w/config management, c) being freaking clever, d) solid work ethic.

Interview steps: 1) Recruiter multiple choice (pre-selection), 2) Manager team fit and semi-technical conversation, 3) Technical interview + some coding/problem solving, 4) Technical interview corporate architecture/troubleshooting/networking.

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
