Job Description
Position: Communications Director – Technology Cloud, JAPAC
- This position will drive a fully integrated communications agenda around Oracle Technology Cloud in JAPAC as well as promoting and protecting Oracle’s wider brand and reputation as part of the JAPAC team
- Tightly linked with Marketing and Sales functions, the role will create, integrate and co-ordinate the execution of communications programs across JAPAC
- As a key role within the Oracle’s JAPAC communications team, this position will report to the Communications VP, JAPAC. This position is based in Singapore and will require some travel within the region.
Role & Responsibilities
Key objectives include, but are not limited to:
- Developing PR strategies and programs aligned to business/campaign goals supporting Oracle’s technology business including ISV business and developer PR.
- Significantly raising awareness of Oracle Technology Cloud leadership highlighting its:
- uniqueness and differentiated offerings eg. multi-cloud, hybrid cloud;
- overall market leadership via thought leadership, product innovation stories
- strong momentum via customer and partner success
utilizing traditional and social media, as well as strategic influencer relationships.
- Proactively positioning Oracle, through designated media spokespeople, as an industry and thought leader with the C-level business community. Working with business leads and spokespeople to develop, refine and deliver key messages.
- Providing strategic guidance and co-developing new ideas and innovative techniques with global team to enable country PR leads to secure high quality news articles and features.
- Coordinating and executing regional campaigns/announcements/projects.
- Developing and nurturing relationships with key regional publications to identify and secure opportunities for editorial placements.
- Adhering to all internal processes for reporting and approval of PR activities. Ensure the timely, efficient and top-quality execution of all plans, activities and programs.
Skills & Competencies
- This role must be filled by an outstanding professional, passionate about communications and delivering results, with minimum 10 years’ experience.
- Excellent strategic planning skills; a solid understanding of the B2B technology industry; deep understanding of traditional and social/digital techniques and campaign planning and execution.
- Experience working within a global enterprise, partnering with highly matrixed inter-connected teams across marketing, sales, social and global/regional dynamics.
- Experience leading modern communications programs that are media-centric, social by design.
- High degree of personal initiative, collaboration and strong written communications are critical skills.
- The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of industry trends and hot topics, how technology is shaping and advancing the everyday lives of individuals as well as organisations – and demonstrated skills in applying that understanding to successful communications. More importantly, they will be able to apply their technical understanding to being able to develop thought leadership topics to make the subjects accessible to non-technical audiences.
- Over and above specialist skills, the candidate must demonstrate drive, initiative, common sense and a get-up-and-go attitude to be successful in this role.
Evaluates and manages new strategic business opportunities, initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, alliances and/or joint ventures. Oversees market analysis, monitors competitive activity, and identifies customer needs. Provides leadership in the planning, designing, due diligence, and implementing of strategic business objectives. Defines vision, strategies, and tactics. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Primarily a resource/ allocation role, coordinating the daily activities of a work group and setting priorities to ensure task completion. Supervises within prescribed procedures with management review and approval. Maintains orderly work processes by coordinating work flow and work quality. Provides technical/functional leadership, as well as first line supervision, but does not have hire/fire authority. Uses individual knowledge and skills to develop team members.
