The job holder is responsible for conducting investigations into potential anti-competitive conducts in Hong Kong.
Responsibilities
i) To engage with the public and conduct early assessments of complaints and queries;
ii) To handle the investigative steps and to conduct factual and legal analysis of alleged contraventions of
the Competition Ordinance;
iii) To take part in investigative actions of alleged contraventions;
iv) To assist internal and/or external legal counsels for investigations at the Litigation stage before the
Competition Tribunal;
v) To assess applications for Decisions or Block Exemption Orders; and
vi) To represent the Commission in public activities such as advocacy and educational initiatives if
requested, and provide general support to the various other functions of the Commission.
Requirements
i) A university degree or professional qualification in law or economics;
ii) 4 years’ experience in a relevant field, experience in a position with regular dealings with
regulatory authorities would be desirable; Candidates with less experience may be
considered for a lower job grade and/or salary;
iii) Good command of written and spoken English, with strong presentation and writing skills.
Chinese (Cantonese) language skills would be an advantage; and
iv) Strong analytical ability and solid project management skills.
Terms of Appointment and Remuneration Package
Terms of Appointment : Appointment will be offered on 2-year fixed-term contract, renewable depending
on performance and operational needs.
Basic Salary : The starting salary for this post is HK$29,035 per month. The basic salary
offered will commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Cash Allowance : 5% of the basic salary
Contract-end Gratuity :10% of the basic salary (including 5% employer’s contribution of MPF)
Fringe Benefits : Annual leave, medical & dental benefits, life insurance and MPF.
