Data Center Facilities Engineer

You will work with the manager of Data Center Facility Engineering and will be responsible for ensuring the operation, maintenance, and efficiency of Oracle mission critical facilities infrastructure. As the facility engineer, you will coordinate with others to ensure the continuous availability of the power and cooling in the data center. Your role will be critical to supporting our customers growth and ensuring we deliver on our promises.

Responsibilities:

Your success will be measured by:

Technical

  • A desire to learn and participate in the creation and development of scalable engineering solutions
  • Ability to read and use electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Safely performing electrical switching operations
  • Review of MOPs and SOPs for accuracy, safety, and to assess the potential for business impact
  • Leading all aspects of the maintenance activities performed by others to ensure they are conducted safely and accurately
  • Ensuring Oracle change management policies are adhered to
  • Undertaking the testing of electrical and cooling systems and identifying issues and working on solutions
  • Supporting the resolution of engineering incidents
  • Overseeing the installation of electrical and cooling infrastructure

Testing and Verification

  • Following existing procedures and play a key role in the development and improvement of processes
  • Analyzing and validate system data and reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Undertaking risk assessments of supplier or partner works
  • Scheduling and track completion of preventive and corrective work items
  • Drafting scopes of work and requests for proposal for vendors and service providers
  • Providing frequent reports on key performance indicators pertaining to space, power, and availability
  • Assist with developing dashboards and automation to support scalable solutions

Project Implementation

  • Implementation and tracking of project plans in conjunction with others
  • Participating in the development of technical and process improvements
  • Identifying potential issues and working with others to ensure project success

Education/experience:

  • Associates degree or higher in an electrical or electronic subject area
  • At least 5 years of experience in operating and maintaining electrical and/or power electronic systems

Depending on previous experience, qualifications and skills of the candidate, IC Level 3 or IC Level 4 may be offered

Provide building and office management services for economy of operation and maximum usage of facilities and equipment. Work with external vendors to develop and implement facilities plans. Review vendor contracts, onsite vendor performance, timely work order completion, and construction related activities. Participate in collaborative space planning efforts with internal resources and user groups. Prepare and monitor annual property budget and other related costs in facility planning. This position will interface with both senior management as well as individual contributors.

As a member of our Real Estate and Facilities team, you will assist the building or office manager in all aspects of daily operations. This may include managing Oracle's office space and equipment. Ensure adherence to company guidelines, processes and building and safety codes. Obtain, review and estimate design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, and preparation. Prepare annual budget. Conduct benchmarking.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. May have project lead role. Applies professional, technical, and operational depth and experience to continuously improve service quality. Good communication skills and familiarity with email and MS Office applications is essential. After hours contact for facilities emergencies, accessible via phone or pager. Degree, relevant certification or equivalent with 8 years prior facilities management or assistant property manager experience preferred.
