As a data engineer, you will work in an agile development environment to learn and collaborate with other group’s engineers in designing, building, maintaining and supporting batch and stream data processing pipelines and the platforms that will power them. You’ll collaborate with data ingest and visual product teams to help utility consumers make better decisions about their energy. These data pipelines and platforms will empower some of our core utility and consumer energy savings and management insights. 

 

You love working with data. You will leverage your strong computer science fundamentals to continuously add value to our large data sets and low latency solutions. You’re likely experienced with JVM based programming languages such as Java and/or Scala as well as Python and data processing technologies such as Apache Spark. You have knowledge of a SQL dialect. Experience in developing, maintaining and supporting production grade distributed data applications on Cloud Native stacks like OCI, AWS, or Azure is a big plus.

Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will perform high-level design based on provided external specifications. Specify, design and implement minor changes to existing software architecture. Build highly complex enhancements and resolve complex bugs. Build and execute unit tests and unit plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering as necessary to discuss minor changes to product functionality and to ensure quality and consistency across specific products.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
