Since then, we have produced groundbreaking devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV and Amazon Echo. What will you help us create?
The Role:
The Device Quality Manager (DQM) is responsible for ensuring that our products are manufactured for quality. The DQM plays customer function role in Amazon manufacturing factories and provides onsite presence overseeing delivery of quality requirements. During the new product development (NPI), the DQM will develop an out of box audit (OBA) plan based on critical to customer use cases of the product by working with the appropriate product development functions to validate product HW/SW functionality and product cosmetics characteristics to ensure that Lab126 delivers high quality products to customers. The DQM will also own factory quality in the sustaining phase of the product. The successful candidate will monitor production performance against established quality goals by conducting regular factory audits, partnering with contract manufacture to lead full investigation and failure analysis leading to root cause determination and subsequent closed loop corrective action. DQM must possess a high sense of urgency when managing critical issues. DQM will lead factory quality lessons learned and institutes remedies to prevent re-occurrence of such issues.
In addition, the DQM will provide production quality health report to management in sustaining phase and drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the job. DQM will also initiate quality pre-alert for any quality escapes from the factory impacting customers and lead cross-functional teams in problem solving activities to provide effective issue resolution.
In this role, you will:
• Control outgoing Product Quality and Prevent Escapes by utilizing sample based functional testing on products, review of non-conforming reports, CAPAs, escapes, and participate in customer complaint investigations.
• Eliminate risks that could impact attainment of first-time quality by utilizing risk assessment tools such as PFMEA, and DFMEA.
• Assist with protocol and report release for process and test method validation in accordance with procedures.
• Develop & Implement Out-of-Box audit plans for a consumer electronics product, including functionality of software applications in order to assess the quality from the customer’s point of view.
• Train and manage factory personnel in monitoring Outgoing Quality and Final Quality Assurance.
• Conduct Customer Experience Transportation (CET) test to validate product integrity and mitigate risks related to transportation of products from factories.
• Lead, recommend and implement cross functional investigations and solutions to complex problems supported by data, forensics, judgement, experience and innovation by using methodical approaches.
• Recommended solutions with an in-depth understanding of implications and impacts to product development teams, all the way up through the executive leadership of the company.
• Align and Influence cross-functional teams and a broad spectrum of stakeholders to deliver quality policy vision.
• Create product quality standards for others to operate by building consensus and perform periodical line audits to govern compliance to these standards.
