Job Description
Director Tax Planning\:
- The Director Tax Planning will manage and coordinate internal and external resources to implement company tax savings strategies.
- Spearhead the identification of tax planning opportunities related to Oracle’s Cloud business and resulting from other changes in business processes or operations, interacting with other internal organizations (Legal, Business Operations, etc.) to provide tax advice.
- Lead Global Tax component of planning, acquisitions, divestitures, investments, and other M&A transactions, as well as post-acquisition integrations.
- Analyze proposed transactions for tax risks or undetermined tax benefits, determine tax-efficient restructurings, interpret complex legislative and regulatory actions relating to transactions, and perform financial analysis to assess the tax consequences of specific transactions, assist with regulatory and legislative initiatives.
- Be an integral partner in Oracle’s business decisions to enhance shareholder value by providing tax-related advice globally to all business units.
- Maintain current knowledge of all tax laws affecting Oracle and serve as a tax technical leader, researching and monitoring the latest developments in US and international legislation and assist in tax policy related advocacy work.
- Assist in creating new processes bought on by U.S. tax reform and changes in international tax legislation.
- Perform or direct research; analysis and interpretation of U.S. federal and international statutes.
- Act as the lead tax contact on various mergers and acquisitions, coordinating with Legal and Corporate Development to ensure acquisition and integration corporate structures are timely reviewed for tax purposes.
- Review and negotiate transaction agreements.
- Advise post-acquisition integration and compliance from a tax perspective.
- Manage all aspects of various worldwide tax projects, including analyzing relevant tax law for tax planning transactions, execution, and compliance reporting.
- Work closely with foreign and US tax advisors along with regional Oracle Tax teams to understand both US and foreign tax implications of proposed transactions and tax projects.
- Create financial models to illustrate the tax consequences of various alternative structures for proposed transactions, restructurings, and tax projects.
- Advise global controversy team in responding to pertinent audit requests.
Preferred Qualifications\:
- 9 plus years of relevant tax experience with a Fortune 500 company, law firm and or public accounting firm.
- Strong business and tax technical skills needed.
- Detail oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to work with outside advisors.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.
- Experience in public accounting firm and/or high technology industry.
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance preferred.
- CPA, MS/MBA tax or law degree a plus.

Represent the company on tax matters in government, professional, and industry associations. Performs or directs research; analysis and interpretation of federal, state, and local statutes. Manages and oversees international tax laws and regulations. May be involved with tax implications of mergers and acquisitions.
Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations. Maintain current knowledge of all tax laws affecting Oracle. Strong business and tax technical skills needed. Detail oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment. Ability to work with outside advisors. Experience with computer tax systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated leadership and project management skills. Experience in public accounting firm and/or high technology industry. BA/BS in Accounting or Finance. CPA and or MS/MBA tax preferred.
