Adopt A Shoreline Intern/ Milfoil Crew Support

Description: 7 Lakes Alliance is looking for candidates to conduct community outreach in response to an invasive aquatic plant infestation in the Belgrade Lakes watershed. The position will require knowledge of (or a passion for learning about) aquatic ecosystems, aquatic plant identification, and invasive aquatic plants detection & mitigation. Interns will educate property owners about the threat of invasive aquatic plants and will administer the Adopt A Shoreline program. Position will also include assisting the Milfoil Removal crew with composting variable milfoil. *Some housing may be available

Responsibilities:

- Coordinate volunteers to survey their own shorelines for invasive plants.

- Teach property owners how to identify certain plants (training will be provided)

- Track and report data

- Develop educational materials

- Assist Milfoil Crew as needed (~ 2 days a week)

- Participate in Plant Paddles

Qualifications:

• Ability to clearly communicate
• Comfortable presenting in front of a group of adults
• Dedication to protecting natural resources
• Ability to perform physical outdoor labor
• Must be able to work independently
• Proficient at documentation and customer relations
• Must be 21 years of age and posses a valid driver’s license (21 preferred)
• Background in education, biology, botany, environmental science preferred

Job Time Frame: Seasonal, 9-10 week position, 40 hours per week, must be available on some weekends and evenings
