The role's prime responsibility will be to support the safety operations for Data Centers in Germany and other data center regions across the EMEA Region.
This role is central for supporting the compliant operation of OCI New Builds, Datacenter Safety and other compute or manufacturing space globally. maintains SME's within each of the major RE&F Global Regions and they are responsible for implementing EHS programs for Contractor Safety, Field Engineering Safety, Life Safety, EHS Training among other responsibilities in all these locations.
A key member of the EMEA Regional EHS Team, the EHS Specialist’s responsibilities will include:
• Implementing the agreed action plan to the agreed standards and deadlines. • A detail-oriented, key contributor in the Regional EHS Team, working collaboratively with peers and EHS Professionals across a multi-national setting toward EHS program implementation. • Assisting and coordinating projects associated with the Global / Regional EHS organization, developing and supporting EHS programs for Oracle Lines of Business (LoB), Real Estate & Facilities (RE&F), and Regional Operations that may span multiple geographies. • Support the administrative aspects of all Global EHS Pillars. • Assist and support the Global / Regional EHS organization in driving the implementation of mid-to long-term EHS projects, including but not limited to EHS programs; such as Corporate Audit, UNIFIER (an EHS tool), Health & Safety, and to ensure requirements in all areas are met by Oracle stakeholders.
• Ensuring the effective preparation and delivery of all project events, meetings and production of all necessary documentation. • Responsibility for the effective flow of information between EHS stakeholders, participants in project activities, and the EHS Program Managers. Required Qualifications
• University degree in Engineering or EHS. Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit (German H&S officer certifcate) to meet the requirements according to ASiG and DGUV Regulation 2.
• Strong spoken and written English and German.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in related industry. • Working knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety / Environmental requirements in Germany is required and for other EU countries is a plus • Strong knowledge about Environment, Health & Safety regulations, and requirements in Germany. Must have familiarity with consensus standards such as those published by ANSI / NFPA / DGUV / BG Bau (for Germany)
• Previous data-centre experience would be at an advantage however relevant experience on civil engineering / construction schemes is adequate • Ability and interest in researching, understanding specific code or regulatory language in order to maintain EHS compliance. • Excellent verbal and written skills, ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels, including external customers, and vendors. • Strong stakeholder engagement skills to engage with and influence multiple stakeholders to achieve
EHS objectives. • Strong customer service skills. • Comfortable with developing and delivering presentations to stakeholders of all levels. • Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Responsibilities 1) EHS
a) Implement health and safety standards and principles, policies, and practices including but not limited to; safety management systems, training, risk assessments, assist with industrial hygiene assessments, and applicable safety regulations.
o Conduct health and safety audits of operational data centers and active construction sites to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements as well as life safety requirements
o Ensure compliance and implementation of national and international health and safety programs that exceed regulatory requirements.
o Develop and/or review health and safety plans for on-site emergencies, business continuity, and other unique events.
o Maintain adequate safety record keeping and data integrity.
o Identify risks and partner with Data Center Operations to remediate them
o Periodically inspecting, auditing, and reviewing safe work practices to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
o Conduct workplace risk assessments
o Supporting incident investigations and root cause analysis, so that corrective and preventive actions can be identified, communicated globally, and implemented.
o Conducting/delivering regulatory training programs to meet EHS requirements.
b) Support the implementation of EHS policies, programs, and procedures to be used throughout the company. c) Provides regular review and improvement of existing EHS policies, programs and procedures. d) Support compliance with country, federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to environment and occupational health & safety through administration of Audit, Risk Assessment, and EHS Inspection programs. e) Identifies risks within the company’s business operations; develops and implements programs to mitigate. f) Provides support throughout the company in the areas of Occupational Health, Safety & Environment. Support Incident / Accident Investigations. g) Supports Safety stewardship for Oracle contractors. h) Administer injury management for workers who sustain a work-related injury and assist in the Workers Compensation claim process.
i) Relations with Governmental Health and Safety bodies and statutory incident insurance institutions
j) Coordination of business activities
k) Occupational Health and Safety Committee participation
l) Ergonomics
o Manage service requests/questions relating to ergonomics
o Conduct individual employee ergonomic evaluations and follow-ups
o Provide ergonomic support to home-based employees
o Maintain database of ergonomic evaluations
o Manage the ergonomics product deployment program
m) Health
o Coordinate annual medical examinations
o Coordinate onsite medical service
n) Incident Management
o Lead and facilitate investigation of accidents and injuries for all facilities within Iberia region.
o Track and manage all incidents across the region.
o Liaise with Germany Legal entities regarding all accidents and injuries occurred in Germany Facilities.
o Prepare monthly KPI safety reports to report accidents and injuries
o) Emergency Response and Risk Management
o Lead the Safety Committee and the Emergency Response Team at assigned facilities
o Work with manager to update Emergency Response Action Plans
o Assist in annual fire evacuation drills at all assigned facilities
o Assist in coordination of safety procedures such as fire extinguisher inspections, fire drills, etc.
o Maintain secure and accurate security card assignments; minimize
o Coordinate programs to educate employees on building and general office emergency procedures
o Maintain emergency procedures manual information
o Coordinate training on CPR and safety as required.
o Complete weekly office inspections, identifying areas of concern and initiating resolution.
o Provide support to implement recommendations from REF Global and reduce risk.
2) Global EHS Initiatives a) Supports, implements, and monitors company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with regulations. b) Supports compliance with the company business continuity program; provides ongoing training, guidance and support. Supports EHS Operational Excellence. 3) Reporting Responsibilities a) Maintains document management system such that documents can be easily retrieved to demonstrate EHS compliance. b) Creates and updates guidelines for posting to EHS portal.
c) Reports directly to the Regional Environment, Health and Safety Manager EMEA 6) Travel Requirements a) Occasional travel required to support EHS regulatory compliance audits to evaluate compliance, identify potential hazards, conduct risk assessments, conduct EHS training, or attend team meetings and summits.
Develops, implements, and monitors company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with regulations.Review programs/policies to ensure compliance with emerging or changing regulations. Consult with Facilties team to provide support and direction regarding Oracle's compliance. Conduct site audits. Responsible for tracking and reporting injury or illness to appropriate agencies and investigate to determine corrective actions. May provide EHS training to include development of training course.
Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. May have project lead role. 5 years related experience. Knowledge of regulations and fire codes. Safety certification desired. Presentation skills. Self starter. Detail oriented. Excel proficient.
