About the team (Oracle Utilities Innovation Lab)
Oracle Industries Innovation Lab (Oracle IIL) is a hands-on space that allows Oracle Utilities, Oracle Construction and Engineering, and Oracle Communications to inspire, collaborate, innovate, and explore new ideas with customers. Our team works on utility related solutions in this lab. This involves working closely with product & delivery teams to bring new concepts, prototypes & ideas to life and co-innovating with our partners & customers.
We’re a small team with large and high-profile responsibilities. We are passionate about trying out new ideas, tinkering with new products and solutions, and taking on new challenges. We love showing off our work to our existing and prospective clients. You can watch some of our work here.
About the job
We are seeking an experienced software engineer that has a perfect blend of deep hands-on technical experience and trouble shooting skills along with architect style strategic vision to lead a matrixed team through a complex project. Ideal candidate will have a strong appetite to learn new technology, eagerness to tinker with new tools, a curious mind to troubleshoot and fix things that are broken, and ability to foster collaboration across remote teams.

What you’ll make happen:
- Get up to speed on Oracle Utilities products, across all solution areas Customer, Asset & Operations technology.
- Establish relationships with product management, engineering, support, presales and marketing teams.
- Learn a new toolset, language, product and integrate it into a new or an existing solution.
- Troubleshoot and collaborate with support and engineering teams to resolve issues.
- Lead high-visibility hands-on projects from concept through delivery.
- Be accountable and responsible for leading the project to completion by wearing multiple hats.
- Work closely with enablement teams to train presales on any new demos created.
You have a track record of:
- Engineering solutions using full stack – front to back, small micro controllers to large enterprise systems.
- Working with highly configurable software toolkits and designing features to allow just the right amount of flexibility for our clients and consultants.
- Playing different roles based on the project needs from hands-on developer to a support engineer or a scrum master.
- Working with distributed remote teams both internal engineering and external partner/client teams.
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Analyze, design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Write code, performs testing and debugging of applications.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans.
As a part of the innovation team, you will collaborate with multiple product and engineering teams, both with in utilities & larger Oracle. You will collaborate closely with partners and customers. You will also be help train sales & presales on demos, and with marketing teams on internal and external sales collateral.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical and business skills in the utility space. You will contributor individually, and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree, or equivalent experience. At least 7 years of software engineering or related experience required.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
