Oracle Communications Applications has an opening for an instructional designer in Ontario, Canada. You will create and revise online learning experiences for cloud native products and SaaS offerings for Oracle customers, system integrators, and employees. Excellent instructional design and research skills, and the flexibility to manage changing deadlines and priorities are essential. Experience in the telecommunications industry is required. You must have the proven ability to meet deadlines, exercise good judgment to resolve problems, and create high-quality work.
Detailed Description
As a member of the Information Development team, you will:
- Work with Oracle product owners and specialists, consultants, support engineers, and sales teams to identify learning requirements for our cloud native products and SaaS offerings.
- Work with product owners to understand software features and the business scenarios and customer use cases that drive their development.
- Design and develop online learning experiences for customers, systems integrators, and employees. This includes:
- Creating learning objectives, course content, activities, and assessments.
- Developing a training environment for demonstrations and labs.
- Demonstrating user tasks tied to the learning objectives.
- Creating videos.
- Review work with product owners and key stakeholders and apply suggested changes.
- Learn and adopt the tools and guidelines used by Oracle to create online learning.
- Keep up with innovative learning solutions and consider their applicability to the work you do.
- Complete work according to agreed schedules and efficiently organize your own time.
- Analyze feedback received through course surveys and update materials accordingly.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a college degree in a related field such as English, Technical Communications, or Computer Science.
- Possess 7 or more years of experience in instructional design.
- Possess 3 or more years of experience in the telecommunications industry, preferably in the billing and charging sector.
- Excellent instructional design, research, analysis, presentation, and writing skills.
- Proven ability to write clearly and concisely using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Proven ability to create clear, understandable online learning experiences about highly technical subjects.
- Excellent command of online learning tools, including graphics and recording tools.
- Excellent oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Good judgment, positive attitude, and an innovative spirit.
- Proven ability to learn new products and technologies and to grasp highly technical material.
- Experience interpreting technical specifications, configuration files, code, and other technical documents as source material.
- Familiarity with software development processes and tools, including source control tools.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams across remote locations.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative group setting.
- Ability to work on multiple deliverables simultaneously and under time constraints.
- Ability to set own priorities and manage shifting deadlines and the trade-offs required to meet them.
Develops courseware to support new and existing products, often though not exclusively in conjunction with Product Division.
Coordinate and evaluate development contributions from other courseware development team members. Develop certification questions for use in the Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) exams. Solicit & incorporate feedback from reviews and training events. Deliver training at train-the-trainer and pilot events.
Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Bachelor*s Degree in Computer Science or Instructional Design. Four years adult education experience (as teacher or curriculum developer). Seven years technical or professional experience using Oracle products or related software. Strong SQL and PL/SQL knowledge and experience. Knowledge of XML, Java, and J2EE technologies. Experience with Oracle9i Database administration. Knowledge of Oracle9i Application server.
