Join the Java Platform Group at Oracle which develops the Java SE platform used across Enterprises, Governments, into Education and beyond. You will be responsible for supporting our Java Management Service (JMS) cloud customers diagnosing product issues and cloud infrastructure.

Detailed Description:

We are looking for an experienced engineer who will be responsible for diagnosing issues across the JDK with a focus on the JMS in the Oracle Cloud. In addition to solving customer issues, job responsibilities will include execution of routine deployments to production servers, ability to recognize patterns based on issue trends, provide service teams with reports and resolutions, and maintain the JMS service dashboard.  

The ideal candidate will have excellent problem solving and communication skills. You will develop the skills to address issues in JMS and Oracle Cloud infrastructure as well as build overall JDK skills and participate within the Java/OpenJDK community.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION:

  • Minimum BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent, plus 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong skills in some or all of the Win32 APIs, Unix, C/C++, Core Java
  • Debugging experience - Windbg, gdb, dbx - with the ability to diagnose issues through the study of core dumps, logs, etc - Experience with the Linux, Windows, and Solaris operating systems
  • Experience with Terraform, Grafana / Prometheus, Programming Language (Python)
  • Must be excellent problem solver, creative thinker, and very self-motivated
  • Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, performance tuning, threading and concurrency
  • Proven ability on troubleshooting and debugging
  • Must have passion for customer satisfaction and ability to provide thorough and useful technical information
  • Able to work well both with local and remote team members & adhere to group processes

Strong organizational skills and written and oral communication in English, with other languages a benefit

 Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will apply basic to intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.

Duties and tasks are standard with some variation; displays understanding of roles, processes and procedures. Performs moderately complex problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 1 year of software engineering or related experience.
