Your Role and Responsibilities

​The Weather Company, an IBM Business is hiring a Meteorological Operations Specialist. This is a great opportunity to become an important member of the TWC Meteorological Services Team. The team is responsible for providing quality control and meteorological support for premiere data products and services worldwide. Your meteorological and technical expertise, along with knowledge of weather-sensitive operations will help maintain high standards for product timeliness, accuracy and quality our customers expect.

Our organization delivers billions of forecasts a day around the world via seamless cross-platform technology. We connect clients and consumers to the weather intelligence they need, on any device. This is done by aggregating rich data sets — both business and consumer — to create analytics and insight which are delivered as personal, reliable, and actionable weather information.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office-1 year
• Proven understanding of theoretical and practical meteorology-1 year
• Ability to deliver operational content consistently and accurately within rigid time constraints
• Demonstrable organizational, data analysis, data collation and process management skills
• Effectively summarize large quantities of data into clear, concise information under rigid time constraints
• Demonstrable proficiency in utilizing advanced workstation technology and scientific methods to derive forecast products in an operational environment
• Ability to effectively multitask and adjust priorities based on changing weather conditions in a fast-paced operational environment is essential-1 year
   

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• Experience with Windows/Linux operating systems-1 year
• Familiarity with C++/PERL/FORTRAN/Python programming languages-6 months
• Demonstrable telephone, verbal and interpersonal communications skills
