This role is available on the OCI Data Science service. We are addressing exciting challenges at the intersection of data science and cutting-edge infrastructure. We are building a cloud service for data scientists, machine learning engineers and software engineers to help them every step of the way in their machine learning development and deployment lifecycle. This role would particularly work on building the next generation of ML Inference Platform for Oracle as an org level engineering leader. Scalable ML inference in real-time, batch, streaming with model explanation, drift and outlier detection are some of the things we’re building.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build distributed, scalable, fault tolerant software systems
• Improve the entire software lifecycle for the teams in the org – development, testing, CI and production operations
• Lead complex software projects and guide/mentor/coach engineers across the org
• Interface with other teams in the org. Engineering teams, product managers, TPMs, managers, engineering leaders as well as interface with many internal customers throughout Oracle.
• Design software architecture for mission critical components and be able to get buy-in from the stakeholders on it including senior members of the team, software leaders and architects throughout OCI and management
• Help the teams in the org balance between product feature development and production operational concerns like writing runbooks, ops automation, structured logging, instrumentation for metrics and events
• Leverage plethora of internal tooling at OCI to develop, build, deploy and troubleshoot software
• Participate in on-call for the service with the team and improve the Ops practices in the org
• Help your Director hire and grow the organization effectively
• Participate in org wide software design, API and roadmap reviews
• Present technical talks at various levels. Team, Director org, VP org and at OCI-wide talks

 

Qualifications

• You have significant experience building complex distributed systems
• You have expertise with containers, container orchestration systems and stateful systems
• You are highly proficient in Java and Python among other languages
• You are experienced at building highly available services, possessing knowledge of common service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols
• You have in depth experience with production operations on Cloud and good practices for putting quality code in production and troubleshoot issues when they arise
• Take initiative and be responsible for delivering complex software by working effectively with the team and stakeholders. Proven track record of leading development with a team of individual contributors
• You are exceptional at communicating technical ideas verbally and in writing (technical proposals, design specs, architecture diagrams and presentations)
• Data science and machine learning knowledge would be very helpful

!|!Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.
