Job Description

An expert level Sales Consultant responsible for formulating and leading presales technical/functional support activity to prospective clients and customers. Acts as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced Sales Consultants. This is an individual contributor position reporting to a Sales Consulting Manager.

 

 

Qualifications

(additional responsibilities may be added at management discretion)

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, advanced degree highly desirable.
  • Industry Experience:

                    Minimum 7 years pre-sales experience with relevant computer applications or

                    database/tools.

                    Minimum 3 years vendor (sales and marketing) experience.

  • Oracle Experience:

Minimum 5 years Oracle DB and related technology around security, availability, manageability, performance and scalability experience

  • Experience with DB associating 3rd party technology and platform would be an added advantage. Eg. Clusterware. Middleware, Security, Availability and manageability.
  • Possess “best of breed” technical or functional sales experience that could be applied across an entire sales area in general or specific technical/functional categories. 
  • An acknowledged expert in his/her area(s) of focus with ability to demonstrate the most advanced product features eg. RAC, PART, Data Guard, Security, Enterprise Manager, Oracle Stream, PL/SQL and DB integration solution.
  • Thorough knowledge of system and application design.
  • In depth knowledge of competitors such DB2 and SQL Server.
  • Demonstrated excellent project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems with accounts, in complex technical environments.
  • Demonstrated excellent sales and marketing skills.
  • Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills: needs analysis, positioning, business justification, closing techniques. Must be able to persuade others through presentations, demonstrations and written communication.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and ability to lead encouraging both individual and team accomplishments.
  • Managed complete technical sales cycles as directed by management.
  • A history of proactive communication and sharing among the technical community
  • Has strong customer relationships with reference accounts

 

Technical qualification

 

  • Oracle certified professional is preferred
  • Hands-on knowledge of installation, implementation and design of database schema
  • Knowledge of PL/SQL
  • Knowledge advance technology like RAC, Partitioning, encryption, compression, clusterware, DB link and Dataguard.
  • Familiar with backup and recovery procedure for production database.
  • Real world hands-on experience of a  enterprise class production database

  • Demonstrate complete understanding of all technical aspects of the sales process and can lead any and all aspects of the technical sales process.
  • Ensure that key decisions and strategies are understood by others.
  • Demonstrate superior leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Focuses on large or complex sales opportunities requiring creative and complex solutions.
  • Current on latest Oracle software releases and future directions.
  • Provides advise to internal and external clients on overall architect solutions.
  • Develop productivity tools and training for other Sales Consultants.
  • Actively participate in organizational skill exchanges and transfers expertise to others.
  • Demonstrate outstanding Corporate Citizenship by working with OU, Product Management, and other organizations within Oracle.
  • Develop and deliver outstanding Oracle presentations and demonstrations.
  • Submit all administrative work in a timely fashion (expense reports, scheduling systems, reports required by management).
  • Attend appropriate internal and external training as guided by management.
  • Actively participate in career and goal planning with management.
Provides direction and specialist knowledge in applying the technology/application to client business. Facilitation of customer product/application understanding through presentations demonstrations and benchmarks; provision of support throughout the sell.

Develops productivity tools and training for other Sales Consultants. Develops and delivers outstanding Oracle presentations and demonstrations. Leads any and all aspects of the technical sales process. Advises internal and external clients on overall architect solutions.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. 3 years vendor (sales and marketing) experience. 7 years business experience with relevant computer applications or database/tools. Ability to implement the most advanced product features. Thorough knowledge of system and application design. In depth knowledge of competitors. Demonstrated project management skills. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills: needs analysis, positioning, business justification, closing techniques. Ability to persuade others through presentations, demonstrations, and written communication. Ability to travel as needed. A/BS degree or equivalent, advanced degree highly desirable.
