Senior Applications Developer - Java

The AI Apps team is developing the next generation of applications using state of the art technology to build machine learning features that extract value and meaning from data.  As part of this team, we are looking for a software engineer who will be responsible for developing functionality to ingest, transform, and analyse large amounts of data. The team is based in multiple locations across the world and the successful candidate will work closely with product managers and data scientists.

We are looking for motivated individuals eager to learn and grow, with a proven track record as a software engineer, and a passion for converting specifications into robust quality production code.  We operate in small scrum teams and the role will involve all phases of the software development cycle.  

 

Ideal candidates should match or exceed the following criteria:

    BS or MS degree or equivalent experience

    Java software engineering experience.

    Relational or NoSQL database experience

    Typescript / JavaScript experience

    Experience working with Kubernetes, Helm and Dockers

    Experience of CI/CD pipelines

    Agile development experience

    Excellent communication skills

    Interest or experience in machine learning

 

Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will perform high-level design based on provided external specifications. Specify, design and implement minor changes to existing software architecture. Build highly complex enhancements and resolve complex bugs. Build and execute unit tests and unit plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering as necessary to discuss minor changes to product functionality and to ensure quality and consistency across specific products.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
