We are looking for a hands-on engineer who has demonstrated expertise in distributed systems, Spark internals and Kubernetes. We are building serverless big data solutions in our hyperscale environment that require engineers to think out of the box, hypothesis and try out innovative solutions. These are exciting times in our space - we are growing fast, still at an early stage, and working on ambitious new initiatives.  

   

 Key Responsibilities\:

• Work closely with architects, principals, product and program managers to deliver product features on time and with high quality.
• Partner and work across OCI security teams to work on required security patches, backports for new Spark release patches if needed
• Evaluate new Spark version releases and partner with architects and other engineers for a plan for upgrading
• Be in the forefront working with Apache Spark community to solve product challenges
• Have a deep understanding of Kubernetes and how it works with Spark
• Work on complex problems like autoscaling and autotuning
• Spark performance tuning and optimizations
• Use of ML and AI as an integrated part of the cloud services to serve thousands of customers while maintaining a reasonable spend

Minimum Qualifications\:

• BS degree in Computer Science or related field (MS preferred)
• 7 years of experience delivering and operating cloud services or highly distributed business software.
• Strong knowledge of Java, and experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, etc.
• Expert knowledge in Apache Spark – internals, security, tuning, optimization
• Strong knowledge in Kubernetes
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
