As an Principal Data Engineer you will need to collaborate with teammates, other teams, key stake holders and project managers to understand functional requirements and create key data pipeline solutions through to implementation. 

 

Provide on-going support for critical backend applications tools and services and value end-user experience by ensuring minimal disruptions to the underlying business.

 

Play a key role in the technical approach, design, development and testing strategies all driven by customer needs as well as corporate standards.  As a result, your solutions will be scalable, fault-tolerant, provide strong insights into diagnostics to simplify support/recovery and be extensible to adapt to dynamic needs of end customers.

 

Have experience, passion and expert knowledge in designing and delivering reusable data pipelines and providing best practices for data migrations to Oracle’s Cloud.  Work with teammates, other teams and stake holders leveraging continuous feedback to ensure solutions and best practices reflect customer stories and provide desired results.

 

Obsess over simple yet extensible designs, customer satisfaction, quality and operational excellence.

 

Be a self starter willing to take on complex tasks through to completion as well as collaborate with teammates and other teams to create ETL/ELT pipeline standards and provide critical feedback to help ensure the effectiveness and productivity of the team.

 

Required Skills

 

·         Experience working in an Agile methodology

·         Hands on development and software configuration skills

·         Strong Oracle Database development experience

·         Experience with Data Warehousing (Star Schemas)

·         Experience building reusable data pipelines

·         Strong PL/SQL authoring and tuning

·         Strong SQL authoring and tuning

·         Strong written and verbal skills

 

Desired Skills

 

·         Experience with implementing Web Services (SOAP, REST)

·         Experience with development in Java and Java EE

·         Experience with Oracle PaaS and IaaS Solutions

·         Experience with migrating data to the Oracle Cloud

·         Experience with implementing ODI (Oracle Data Integrator Service)

·         Experience with implementing Oracle NoSQL Database Cloud Service

 

 

 

 

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

 

Analyze functional and technical requirements, provide feedback, create data pipeline architectures, best practices and tools for migration of data to Oracle’s Cloud.

 

Act as a technical expert and liaise with teammates, other IT teams and stakeholders to communicate data pipeline architectures, best practices and use of tools to help simplify and streamline migration of critical data to Oracle’s Cloud.

 

Leverage Oracle technologies such as Oracle Data Integrator, write code as needed, test, troubleshoot and enhance reusable tools to simplify the migration of data to Oracle’s Cloud.

 

Support existing applications, tools, solutions and infrastructure, ensuring uptime and providing enhancements as needed.

 

Solutions are complex and vary depending upon needs of the end customer and require the creative application of advanced technical and business skills.  As well, requires collaboration both with teammates and other teams in order to ensure solutions meet corporate standards, leverage existing Oracle technologies and tools and meet/exceed end customer needs.

 

BS or MS degree or equivalent experience

 

5-10 years data pipeline development experience

 

5-10 years experience with Oracle Databases


Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
