Job Description
Are you a curious and passionate about data and how it can be used to solve real world customer problems and drive value? Interested in analyzing data various sources and correlating them so we can help drive production incidents lower? The RDS team is looking for exceptional candidates who would bring the technical expertise and work with the team to execute on complex projects and deliver results.
• Our Team – We are a team of engineers and technical product managers who use data and analytics to identify the top opportunities to improve service health for the Oracle Fusion SaaS Cloud products. We then partner with the appropriate teams to drive improvements in these areas. We are looking to get a deep understanding of errors and patterns of errors that have the largest impact of our customers and use machine learning to predict customer impact before it happens.
• Work with multiple teams across the Oracle stack. We analyze production issues, prioritize and drive resolution of such issues across the Oracle stack. We provide the visibility to top management about the performance and issues with the Oracle stack through our deep analysis of data. We strive to become experts in the stack that we work with so we can educate engineers, product and operations managers from other teams to help with the stability of the stack.
• Your Role - As a Data Scientist at RDS your role is to follow the data. Analyze, visualize, and model production related log data. You will build and implement machine learning models to make timely decisions. You will have access to unparalleled resources in Oracle to grow and develop both personally and professionally. We are looking for a mixture between a statistician, scientist, machine learning expert and engineer\: someone who has passion for building and improving Internet-scale products informed by data. The ideal candidate will strive to understand the technology that drives the Oracle stack and knows what to look for in the data, and can work closely with the engineering and product management teams to solve complex problems with data, analysis, algorithms, and insights.
• About you and your experience
o B.A. or M.S. in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics.
o Minimum 2-4 years of professional industry experience in data science.
o Expertise in machine learning and statistical modeling.
o Passion to answer Product/Engineering/Operations questions with data.
o Ability to code in various languages, use big data platforms, extract and analyze data.
o Have full stack experience in data collection, aggregation, analysis, visualization and monitoring.
o Are proficient in data modeling work\: Python, R, or related products.
o Familiarity in big data modeling work\: Hadoop, Pig, Scala, Spark
o Can fish for data\: SQL, Oracle, Excel, OMC
o Deploy data science solutions\: Java, Python
o Communicate concisely and persuasively with engineers and product managers.
Interacts with product and service teams to identify questions and issues for data analysis and experiments. Develops and codes software programs, algorithms and automated processes to cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources. Identifies meaningful insights from large data and metadata sources; interprets and communicates insights and findings from analysis and experiments to product, service, and business managers.
Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. 8 years relevant work experience. BS/BA preferred.
