As a Principal Product Manager on the OCI Telecommunications team, you will responsible for identifying, defining, and driving the products, features, and performance needed to operate 5G networks for tier-1 operators and private enterprises. You’ll need to deeply understand the telecommunications industry, ETSI and 3GPP standards, and related technology, and perform detailed market analysis, use case definition, and business case justification. You’ll act as the bridge between the telecommunications world and the cloud, identifying gaps, new functionality, and performance requirements for the OCI platform. To be successful, you’ll need to dive deep into the Oracle Cloud to understand its services and functionality, and work closely with individual engineering teams on enhancements to their services. You’ll also interface with worldwide telcos and software partners to gather requirements and build relationships. As a Principal Product Manager, you’ll present your business cases, product definitions, and proposed solutions to senior leadership.

 

The successful candidate will be a full service product manager who understands the complete product lifecycle, is technical, and has a passion for solving difficult problems in a collaborative, agile work environment. S/he will also have a knack for creativity and innovative thinking, can look around corners to identify problems and risks, and a strong sense of empathy for both customers and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed market research, gather requirements and use cases, present business cases

• Analyze customer requirements/needs against existing capabilities to identify gaps

• Identify, define, and prioritize products and features

• Perform financial modeling, to include cost and pricing analysis

• Represent product roadmap and strategy to customers and stakeholders

• Work directly with key customers to understand their requirements and devise creative solutions to their problems

• Write product definitions and user stories as an input to product design

• Collaborate with development and UX teams to iterate on and refine designs

• Create blogs, whitepapers, videos, and other content to help enable customer success

• Define, measure, and manage customer experience and business performance goals

• Proactively identify and resolve risks and issues that might otherwise derail projects

• Be an advocate for the customer through the product lifecycle

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS in Computer Science or related discipline

• 5+ years of relevant hands-on product management experience with telecommunications, cloud, or enterprise software

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong business acumen and ability to make high judgment decisions

• Ability to define and shape the business strategy for large product areas

• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously

• Proven track record of successfully shipping new products in an agile environment

• Strong executive presentation skills with experience dealing with C-level technical and business audiences

• Ability to interact with customers and sales teams on an ongoing basis.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• MBA or MS degree in a technical discipline

• Experience in the telecommunications industry

• Technical knowledge of public cloud technologies

As a member of the product development division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Suggest and justify product directions and specifications. Specify, design and implement moderate changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
