Do you want to work at the intersection of security, machine learning and program analysis? Then Oracle Labs, Australia has an exciting opening for you. We focus on application security vulnerability detection using a variety of techniques, ranging from static and dynamic analysis of applications, malware analysis, and machine learning.

A Senior position is available at the Intelligent Application Security group at Oracle Labs, Australia. The successful candidate will work on improving the security of large applications that leverages data from diverse sources (e.g., publicly known vulnerabilities, security reports and advisories using data analytics) and extract valuable application-specific security-related insights from them.

Selection criteria

  • A PhD in the area of natural language processing or a related area with 5 years of relevant professional experience; Candidates who have do not have a PhD but have 10 years of relevant experience will also be considered;
  • Significant practical experience with state of the art deep learning techniques;
  • Demonstrable problem solving skills that scale to large systems;
  • Demonstrable capacity to work independently and collaboratively;
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and the ability to deal with ambiguity associated with working in a research laboratory;
  • Ability to work in a fast-changing research environment;
  • Ability to interact with product organisations;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Eligibility to work in Australia without sponsorship.

This is a full-time, continuing position. The successful candidate can choose to be based in Brisbane where the Intelligent Application Security team is located or work remotely from any location in Australia.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.!|!
