· Research into materials and component technologies to scope development opportunities
· Provide manufacturing expertise, feature design advice to the production design team
· Test failure analysis and solution validation to complete successful product development
· Provide advice to detailed part design and product documentation
· Field failure analysis and solution evaluation for production line issues
· Provide advice to lead project teams to timely delivery of products
· Manage interaction with overseas resources
· Apply technical expertise to problem solving throughout product lifecycle

Key job responsibilities
• Lead product design from ID concept through mass production, including ID feasibility assessment, part and assembly detail design, prototyping, DFM optimization, qualification, validation and FA for mass production
• Collaborate with ID, product manager, EE, Reliability engineer to develop and implement integrated solutions incorporating plastic, metal, and electronic components to meet quality, reliability, cost and customer experience requirement
• Perform design analysis, risk assessment for mitigations and validations
• Develop and maintain product specifications, BOMs, and technical documentation
• Work with contract manufacturers to resolve production issues and implement design improvements
• Conduct thorough DFM/DFA/DFX analysis to ensure manufacturability, reliability and cost-effectiveness
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams
