Production Support Service Engineer

 

As a member of the ACS/MCS organization, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. The Managed Cloud Services application operations delivery team is responsible for providing technical services to support customer environment provisioning, software integration and implementation, data and environment migration to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and major product upgrades for the Fusion Middleware products. You will be responsible for supporting and managing large scale customer environments on the OCI platform.


Team members are recognized for Fusion Middleware (FMW) product and technology expertise mainly on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Gen-1 & Gen-2 and understanding of how they are applied to build customer solutions. They are called upon to create standards for architecture and sizing, help customers solve business problems, and develop the project and technical plans to upgrade software, modify configurations, change integration solutions, and add additional functionality.


The team invests heavily in the design and development of tools and utilities to improve application and service availability. This includes tools to reduce the time-to-identify cause, time-to-restore service, auto-heal, and auto-fix scripts.
 

The team has global membership and responds to customer requests and incidents around the clock, 7 days a week. The candidate should be ready to work in 24x7 environments and in shifts (as applicable).

Job Details

We are looking for an ambitious, talented, energetic, and self-motivated Production Support Service Engineer for the Continuous Integration Services team in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Our team is a driven development organization, developing the applications that support source code management services, continuous integration tools, and services used by all Oracle development teams.

 

This position requires experience and proficiency with the following skills and technologies. The candidates need not have depth knowledge or troubleshooting skills in these areas:

  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
  • Oracle WebLogic Server 12c
  • Oracle SOA Suite of products
  • Oracle Identity & Access Management
  • Oracle Database

 

Installation, migration, and upgrade of Fusion middleware products on various offerings on Cloud like IaaS, PaaS and Marketplace is must

Responsibilities

 

  • Support Software Development Life Cycle operation and maintenance activities utilizing Shell, Python, or Java scripting languages.
  • Troubleshoot and debug problems with solutions such as patch automation, custom health checks, self – healing functions to detect and correct run – time exceptions or failures, etc.
  • This job is for L3 and above type of work and support
  • Create and manage Ansible Playbooks or SaltStack to perform fleet management tasks such as application and platform configuration management.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and patch WebLogic, JRockit, or HotSpot Servers
  • Manage Java and WebLogic SSL keystores. Performing application server hardening to protect against malicious attacks.
  • Automation of various IaaS and PaaS offerings using REST APIs and Inbuilt CLIs for Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Resolve performance and scalability issues related to products and services.
  • Contribute to architecture standards and practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the health, scalability, and resiliency of products and services.
  • Configure IDM components to protect applications and other FMW products, troubleshoot authentication issues, manage LDAP directories.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Requirements

  • BS or equivalent in Computer Science/Engineering or relevant field. MS or equivalent in Computer Science/Engineering will be desired.
  • 7 or more years of experience scripting utilizing Shell, Python, or Java.
  • Proficient understanding and capability to use DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, Ansible, Salt Stack, and Selenium.
  • Experience with performance tuning, administering cluster topologies, and WLST scripting.
  • 5 years of Server knowledge, preferably WebLogic, including but not limited to security and vulnerability abilities.
  • Knowledge of Platform as a service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a service (laaS), preferably Oracle SOA Cloud Service, Java Cloud Service, and various other Marketplace offerings in Oracle.
  • Knowledge of Fusion Middleware (FMW) 11g and 12c: WebCenter Suite including Content and Imaging, BPM Suite, WebCenter Sites
  • Basic understanding of Oracle Web Logic is not enough, candidate should be in-depth understanding & hands on experience of Web Logic architecture, Coherence, Clustering.
  • Excellent experience working on any of the two areas like SOA, OSB, ODI, MFT, JCS besides extensive knowledge of WebLogic platform including Oracle Market Place.

  • Understanding and good knowledge of Identity Management (IDM) Suite and Access Management (IAM) Suite
  • At least minimum hands experience of two FMW suite of products is required e.g., SOA, OSB, ODI etc.,
 

 

Responsible for the operation of production environments, including systems and databases, supporting critical business operations. Will perform administration and analysis for multiple production environments and recommend new and novel solutions to improve availability, performance, and supportability. This is an opportunity to bring a combination of deep technical knowledge with administration/analysis knowledge of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure to provide escalation support to a wide range of complex production environment problems related to immense growth, scaling, leveraging the cloud, extremely high performance, and high availability requirements.

Install, monitor, maintain, support, and optimize all production server hardware and software. Provide escalated technical support for complex technical issues which may include leading problem management cases and providing management status. Coordinate escalated support cases and lead appropriate internal technical resources and/or third party vendors to resolution and coordinate a storage infrastructure of Oracle system and database appliances. Responsible for Oracle production environments; assist with server operating system and application upgrades, bug fixes, and patching; and work on standardization projects for both hardware and software under the Oracle technology stack while providing consistent system uptime as expected in a Cloud environment. Provide on-call support, on a rotating basis.

BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience. Identifies and implements complex solutions in Technical Infrastructure support and server administration in a mid-sized environment; supporting and troubleshooting distributed applications, software, and operating systems; and administering and troubleshooting issues with messaging middleware and message brokers. Knowledge of enterprise platforms. Desire to keep up with modern technology and make recommendations. Knowledge of network architecture and protocols. Experience with enterprise administrative scripting using a major scripting language and experience with software deployment. Travel may be required in accordance with business needs. Related technical experience may be substituted for degree requirements, including Infrastructure support and server administration; supporting and troubleshooting distributed applications, software, and operating systems. Advanced knowledge of network architecture and protocols. Strong experience with enterprise administrative scripting using a major scripting language. 8+ years or more of related technical experience may be substituted for degree requirements, including Infrastructure support and server administration; supporting and troubleshooting distributed applications, software, and operating systems.
