Job Description

Sr. Engineered Systems Administrator

 The Sr. Engineered Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration of Oracle Engineered Systems platform (Exa) including Private Cloud Appliance (PCA) for the enterprise.

This individual will have responsibilities that include management and administration of complex data centre environments - hardware, platform software, hypervisor, cluster ware, virtual machine infrastructure, storage, internal systems network, support application installation and management, providing 24x7 system administration support to assigned systems.

Additional responsibilities include migration from Exalogic/Commodity to Private Cloud Appliance (PCA)

Knowledge & Experience

  • 10 years of IT experience.
  • Experience with supporting Private Cloud Appliance (PCA) / Big Data Appliance (BDA)
  • Migration from Commodity and Exalogic systems to Private Cloud Appliance (PCA)
  • DevOps/Automation experience
  • 10 years’ in Unix/Linux System Administration with scripting knowledge and hardware platforms, networking, storage and subsystems support hands-on experience.
  • Experience with Private Cloud Appliance (PCA) Exalogic Installation/ Upgrade /PSU Patching, server hardware and platform software.
  • PCA/Exalogic vulnerabilities identification and patching.
  • Strong knowledge of the Linux operating system and OS Virtualization (HVM, PVM OVMM, XEN) server administration.
  • Good Experience on handling Performance related issues on OS and NAS
  • Detailed knowledge of networking principals\: TCP/IP, Routing, DNS
  • Experience in maintaining security compliance and security best practices.
  • Experience with backup/recovery design, DR implementation, monitoring implementation, performance tuning and optimization.
  • Knowledge of Storage management, provisioning, optimization and ZFS Storage operations experience
  • Understand and execute the IT processes of Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, and Configuration Management.
  • Experience in use of the Linux inbuilt or vendor backup tools [TSM. etc..]
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Experience on OEM
  • Experience in developing documentation, white papers and presentations to all levels of management and technical staff.
  • Experience with supporting platform running enterprise Middleware Applications.
  • Cloud Computing Experience
  • Familiar with OS upgrades/Patching and experience of working in Command Centre / Outage handling will be a plus

 Role requires communication with Customer on regular basis and hence candidates are expected to have excellent Interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). Must be willing to work in 24x7 operations

 Preferred Knowledge\:-

    • Exposure/ Experience with administering Engineered Systems (PCA – Private Cloud Appliance, Exadata, Exalogic & Exalytics)
    • Migration to PCA
    • Good Knowledge of storage/backup technology like SUN ZFS, NAS
    • Knowledge of Oracle Database, Networking, Storage devices
    • Oracle Enterprise monitoring (OEM)
    • DevOps/Automation experience - Good understanding of Chef, puppet or at least one automation tool.
    • Scripting [Perl / bash shell] and server administration task automation.
    • Experience with installing, configuring Oracle Virtual Machines, managing OVM templates is a plus.
    • Experience on chef server-client configuration and usage is a plus.
    • Good understanding of fundamental technologies like TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP, SMTP, DNS, Load balancer, NFS.
    • Experience in Oracle Grid infrastructure.
    • Knowledge of LDAP concepts and experience integrating servers with an LDAP.
    • Working knowledge on WebLogic , FMW
    • Understanding of application like , WebLogic cluster, WebLogic server , SOA,OSB.HTTP Server, OAM, apps deployment etc.
    • Working experience Agile environment
    • Tools Working knowledge\: Remedy, Service now , Jira, Confluence
    • Working Oracle Database Knowledge

As a member of the IT organization, assist with the analyze of existing complex programs and formulate logic for new complex internal systems. Prepare flowcharting, perform coding, and test/debug programs. Develop conversion and system implementation plans. Recommend changes to development, maintenance, and system standards.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. BS or equivalent experience in programming on enterprise or department servers or systems.!|!
