Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer who can:

  • Understand customer technical and business requirements
  • Design and develop a proposed architecture mapping to cloud services
  • Help customers understand current vs OCI cloud economics
  • Help customers understand the value of OCI vs current state
  • Develop the functional requirements for prototypes, demonstration solutions, and customer cloud migrations of applications
  • Support the development, testing, and demonstration of developed prototypes and application migrations
  • Develop a deep expertise in the Oracle Cloud technology offerings as well as broad know-how around how applications and services are constructed using the Oracle Cloud platform
  • Help lead and generate excitement and usage of Oracle Cloud services across social media
  • Help develop technical content and collateral including demos, blog posts, technical videos, and white papers
  • Evangelize: help small, medium, and high growth companies leverage the cloud to boost their success

 

Requirements

  • BS/MS degree required; Computer Science, Math or Engineering degree with Technical background highly desired
  • Minimum 5-8 years' relevant experience with hands on experience in cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI etc). Senior and more experienced candidates may be considered for the principal role
  • Ability to multi-task; working on multiple project teams and wearing multiple hats is very common at Oracle
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Willingness to handle a large volume of customer engagements on a weekly basis
  • Experience estimating and sizing cloud resources preferred
  • OCI or other Cloud certifications are required

 

You must have experience in one or more of the following areas:

 

Cloud Infrastructure

  • Solid understanding of different cloud platforms such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS cloud; cloud certification is a plus
  • Experience automating cloud infrastructure using SDKs/APIs, and CLIs
  • Experience in administering Windows and/or Linux operating systems and clusters at an expert level
  • 2+ years of cloud provisioning automation – Terraform, Chef/Puppet/Ansible
  • 3+ years of experience in Windows and/or Linux OS administration and automation (PowerShell, shell scripting)
  • Experience with application performance monitoring and/or log analytics preferred

 

Network

  • Hands-on experience with major networking technologies including BGP, OSPF, SD-WAN, Layer 2 and troubleshooting is required.
  • Experience with major WAN connectivity options (including MPLS L3VPN, DIA, VPLS, dark fiber etc.) and working with global carriers offering such services is required
  • Experience with IPSec VPN, Load Balancers, DNS, NAT, WAF, SD-WAN and CDN solutions
  • Experience with 3rd party firewall solutions such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco, Juniper and Check Point

 

Software/DevOps

  • Strong understanding and experience of release engineering and continuous delivery process
  • Strong understanding of principles of DevOps and Continuous Delivery
  • 3+ years of cloud provisioning automation – Terraform, Chef/Puppet/Ansible
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, Swarm or Openshift and related container platform ecosystems
  • Experience with serverless technologies such as AWS lambda, and fnproject.org

 

Data Management

  • Experience with two or more database technologies such as Oracle, MySQL
  • Experience with data management lifecycle including handling unstructured and structured data
  • Experience with database and data migrations
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL
  • Hands-on experience migrating RDBMs systems from one infrastructure to another. For example: moving MySQL from on-premise to cloud
As a member of the Support organization, your focus is to deliver post-sales support and solutions to the Oracle customer base while serving as an advocate for customer needs. This involves resolving post-sales non-technical customer inquiries via phone and electronic means, as well as, technical questions regarding the use of and troubleshooting for our Electronic Support Services. A primary point of contact for customers, you are responsible for facilitating customer relationships with Support and providing advice and assistance to internal Oracle employees on diverse customer situations and escalated issues.

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will interface with the customer*s IT staff on a regular basis. Either at the client*s site or from a remote location, you will be responsible for resolution of moderately complex technical problems related to the installation, recommended maintenance and use and repair/workarounds for Oracle products. You should be highly experienced in some Oracle products and several platforms that are being supported. You will be expected to work with only general guidance from management while advising management on progress/status.

Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. May have project lead role. Because of substantial customer interfacing, a demonstrated ability to work with customers on an independent basis with exceptional communication skills, while consistently achieving the highest levels of customer satisfaction is essential. A Bachelor*s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience is preferred with five years related experience. Experience with Oracle*s core products, applications, and tools is important.
