We are looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Operations Engineer with cloud services experience to join our Cloud Operations team. In this role, you will define, design, implement, triage and support software solutions in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, with the goal of providing a highly reliable, scalable and performant cloud service to support Oracle Cloud services and customers.
You will partner with core engineering teams responsible for architecting, designing, developing, and managing the service. Through this work, you will play a key role in increasing the velocity of engineering while still driving quality into the service development lifecycle across all development teams. You will champion an engineering environment that embodies the best development and testing practices for delivering high quality services.
You will have knowledge and experience developing, installing, and configuring Cloud components including, Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Jenkins, Terraform, WebLogic, Oracle Business Intelligence, Oracle Analytics, Oracle Database, and Kubernetes (OKE).
Key Responsibilities:
- Solve complex problems related to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure services and assist driving automation improvements to prevent problem recurrence.
- Deploy software to improve the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Oracle products and services.
- Contribute to further development of proprietary tools and processes used in the deployment, configuration and support of Oracle Construction and Engineering Business Unit products as new versions are released and as new products are added to the GBU’s portfolio.
- Troubleshoot performance issues at the applications level. Collaborate with DBA, product development, and production engineering teams to resolve issues. Manage and respond to customer-initiated service requests.
- Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services.
- Facilitate service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.
- Act as ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and the dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations.
- Serve as a mentor to other Cloud Operations team members and cross-train team members where needed.
- Participate in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation, weekend work may be required.
- Professional curiosity and a desire to a develop deep understanding of services and technologies.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent 8 year(s) of work experience relevant to functional area.
- Experience working with fault tolerant, highly available, high throughput, distributed, scalable systems.
- Container administration and development utilizing Kubernetes, Docker, Mesos, or similar.
- Aptitude to be a good team player and the desire to learn and implement new Cloud technologies as needed.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Installing, configuring, operating, and troubleshooting WebLogic clusters and deploying Primavera products on Cloud.
- Integrating Primavera products with supported Red Stack products in High Availability Environment.
- Monitoring and operational components like Nagios, Prometheus, OEM, and ELK.
- Jira, Oracle Bugdb, and My Oracle Support (MOS) applications to report and track customer issues.
- 8 years of experience in Linux Operating System.
- 8 years of experience in Windows Operating System.
- 8 years of experience in SQL database.
- Knowledge with OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure), Oracle Linux, and Kubernetes is a strong plus.
