Senior Director Product Engineering – Converged Charging and Mediation

 

BACKGROUND

Oracle is recruiting for an exceptional Product Engineering leader to focus on Converged Charging, Mediation and Analytics solutions for Communications vertical.  The executive will be responsible for leading the product engineering organization to develop new products and transform existing ones into leading revenue management solutions for leading global communications services providers. This person is responsible for the strategy, architecture, engineering, and life-cycle management of software that is the essence of our success in Comunications Monetization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Director Product Engineering will work with product management to design, build and deliver Oracle’s Converged Charging, Mediation and Analytics product suite.   He/She will lead and oversee both new product development as well as sustaining engineering.  Reporting to GVP of Product Development for the Communications Applications Global BU (CAGBU), the ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Communications Networks, 3GPP 5G architecture and specifications, Cloud Native, Telco grade network product development, and a strong track record running sustaining development.  This role will be directly responsible for software design and solution architecture, software engineering, quality and NFR engineering and global engineering organization development.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Lead product strategy and technology planning activities to align engineering priorities to business goals.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate departments to develop and maintain a technology plan that supports organizational needs.
  • Partner with Product Management to define aggressive, but achievable product roadmaps, with commitment to delivery.
  • Incorporate newly incubated technologies into the stack and build a Technology vision and roadmap.
  • Effectively manage department budget to support attainment of software portfolio P&L objectives.
  • Anticipate and react to major technology changes to ensure the maintenance of company leadership in the competitive landscape.
  • Maintain a culture of continuous improvement with a focus on being a best-in-class product R&D organization.
  • Maintain a culture of delivering on-time, on-scope, on-budget, and on-quality.
  • Fully accountable for software quality and on-time delivery.
  • Lead the team in enforcing standard practices that enhance maintainability and reliability of software across the product line.

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 15+ years progressively increasing product development including responsibility in a cloud native network software environment.
  • Strong product knowledge and development of successful strategies in the Communication’s sector.
  • Exceptional messaging skills in both written/oral/presentation communication skills.
  • Proven experience achieving KPIs set for product and industry growth
  • Leadership in a high-performance environment.
  • Combine discipline, entrepreneurship, collaboration and deep knowledge of the Communication’s sector.
  • Experience of agile/lean product development principles.
  • Proven experience managing local and remote engineering teams
  • Presenting product to an audience, in meetings, to stakeholders, 1-1.

EDUCATION

A Bachelors’ degree is preferred.  An advanced degree is a plus.

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a Senior Director of the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to current and future design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision improvements to the architecture.

Directs and ensures the implementation of operational policies through subordinate managers Interacts internally and externally with executive management involving negotiation of difficult matters to influence policy. Functional expertise and broad company knowledge. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.
