Cloud, Higher Ed institutions have expressed unprecedented interest in
embarking on a cloud adoption journey with Oracle. Student Information
Systems, a critical functional area to complete in our SaaS footprint
for Higher Ed, is one top investment priority for Oracle.
We
are looking for a technically hands-on Director of Software Development
with expertise and passion for innovation, solving difficult problems
and developing the next generation of Student Information System in the
cloud. If this is you, at Oracle you can design and build innovative new
systems using bleeding edge technologies available at Oracle. These are
exciting times in our space - we are growing fast and working on
ambitious new initiatives.
As
a Director of Software Development you will own and lead development
teams and be responsible for development of Oracle’s Student Cloud. You
will also work closely with other peers/leaders within and outside of
the Higher Ed Development team. This position is located in Pleasanton,
California USA.
Requirements\:
· You
should be a well rounded and experienced Director of Development who is
a strong people manager, technically hands-on (preferably with
JavaScript and REST web services development) and has experience with
leading globally distributed teams.
· You have start-up and enterprise development experience and have an eye for speed, efficiency, impact and common sense.
· You
have experience with agile methodology and have successfully led
efforts to transform teams from using waterfall to effectively using
agile.
· You
should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative,
agile environment, and be excited to learn new tech stack, new
technologies, drive innovation and mentor and develop team members.
· You have strong communication skills, analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of SaaS product development.
· You are passionate about developing intuitive and user centric designs and have experience in building consumer facing products.
· You have the ability to drive excellence, product quality and have zero tolerance for mediocre work.
· You will be responsible for providing leadership and development of your teams.
· You
are comfortable working with geographically distributed teams and
contribute to the success of his/her and other related teams.
· You can provide strong leadership to ensures a consistent approach of organizational policies and procedures.
· Experience in building Oracle Fusion Apps would be highly desirable.
As a Senior Director of the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to current and future design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision improvements to the architecture.
Directs and ensures the implementation of operational policies through subordinate managers Interacts internally and externally with executive management involving negotiation of difficult matters to influence policy. Functional expertise and broad company knowledge. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.
