Senior Manager (Market Conduct)

Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Director / Associate Director, Market Conduct, the incumbent will assume the following:

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Head, manage, and train up a team of regulatory / professional staff
  • Formulate and update investigation and disciplinary policies and procedures
  • Undertake forensic inquiries and investigations, analyze evidence and make recommendations to senior management concerning possible breaches of the Insurance Ordinance and its related regulations, and misconduct of intermediaries and authorized insurers
  • Assess and prepare cases for disciplinary actions and co-ordinate with the Disciplinary Panel and/or other advisory committee on these cases
  • Liaise with the Department of Justice, industryand regulatory bodies, and other law enforcement agencies on matters relating to the regulation, supervision and prosecution of insurance intermediaries
  • Prepare cases for appeals and co-ordinate with the Insurance Appeal Tribunal on appeal cases
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior management to facilitate the administration and performance of the statutory functions of IA

 

 

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or professional qualification in law, insurance, accounting or related disciplines
  • Minimum 8 years' relevant work experience, 3 years of which at managerial level, in law enforcement, investigation, litigation, dispute resolution, compliance or regulatory fields
  • Knowledge of the local regulatory requirements, insurance products, industry practices and market dynamics relating to the insurance business
  • Strong analytical, leadership, investigative, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, and the ability to communicate effectively and articulate complex transactions simply is essential

 

 

Appointment Terms

A competitive remuneration package commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications on a 2-year contract will be offered.
