System QA team is part of MySQL engineering and performs critical functions in the organization. We strive to continuously improve the MySQL Cloud Service quality by performing automated system integration testing, operating at scale as well as under extreme system conditions.

 

We are looking for a system testing expert to join our team of highly talented engineers. As a member of the system QA team you will work on testing projects , work with the team across different geographies, innovate and find creative approaches to problem solving, learn and grow your skills and apply these in your day to day work.

 

Essential Functions

• Collaborate with stakeholders to identity, design, develop and maintain automated tests in areas of system integration, stress, volume, performance and upgrade primarily using Java.
• Perform System testing on a continuous basis using automated tests.
• Run regression testing for MySQL products across a range of platforms.
• Analyze, investigate, document and communicate test results in timely fashion.
• Report and verify bugs as required, work with developers to help in analyzing results.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Prior work experience with any of the Cloud Services such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, etc.
• Some experience in software development
• Ability to read and understand large pieces of code quickly.
• Knowledge of fault-tolerance, high availability, reliability, and dependability concepts.
• Familiarity with popular development operations (DevOps) tools and technologies
• Solid experience in Linux

 

Soft Skills\:

• Ability to analyze and diagnose problems in complex distributed systems.
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to coordinate and work effectively within a geographically distributed team across time zones.

 

Nice to have

• Knowledge of MySQL as a user, DevOps or DBA.
• Knowledge of key features of cloud service providers.
• Usability expertise (understanding how a system interface is constructed).

 

Education

• BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to the functional area, at least 5-7 years of software engineering experience or similar roles.

 

Detailed Job Description

• As a member of the software engineering division and the MySQL System QA group, you will be responsible for\:
• Interacting with the stakeholders on a regular basis to evaluate product design for the purpose of identifying test requirements
• Prepare test plans, develop and run automated tests
  
• Generate test reports and log product bugs as needed. 
• You will represent the QA view in the evolution of the products to ensure adherence to the quality goals of both agile and waterfall development models and the execution of defined QA and related processes for the projects.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
