The Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE) team builds the OCI service that provides managed Kubernetes experience for our customers. It is in use by a variety of internal and external customers, and we're actively building ambitious new features - from Kubernetes, to deeper integrations with OCI, and to better allow cluster management. Position Overview:
We’re looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems, virtualized infrastructure, and highly available services. If this is you, at Oracle you can design and build innovative new systems from the ground up. These are exciting times in our space - we are growing fast, still at an early stage, and working on ambitious new initiatives. An engineer at any level can have significant technical and business impact.
The ideal software engineer candidate for the OKE has large breadth of knowledge and experience including areas such as networking, storage, internet protocols and operating systems, builds highly available distributed systems, update and deploy Kubernetes, plus automation and tooling for testing, deployments and other needs.
Responsibilities
- Architect and design new features and systems for our customers.
- Work across teams to engineer the best system (both for operations and for customers) regardless of org boundaries or ownership.
- Debug, maintain and improve existing systems, with a focus especially for reducing operational burden and on performance.
- Be a generalist, able to debug issues across a wide breadth of our stack.
- Scale our systems by building tooling and automation.
- Work with partner teams outside our org and external to Oracle.
Qualifications
- BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.
- Systematic problem-solving approach, strong communication skills, a sense of ownership and drive.
- History of working in large codebases in Java, C# , or Go, and experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, etc.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Experience building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure a strong plus.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.
Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
