Job Description
The Supplier Quality Management (SQM) Department is part of the Quality organization. Its primary responsibilities are to perform supplier selection, lead supplier development and improve supplier performance in full product lifecycle. This ensures that quality components are delivered for Amazon projects. SQM works closely with GCM, Engineering, PD and Reliability in supplier selection process, and secure that capable suppliers are brought into Amazon programs. It dedicates on supplier development, which helps to ensure that the right processes & systems are specified, deliver appropriate outcome and meet quality expectation. SQM works intensively at the suppliers—solving problems and performing audits to ensure the scalability and sustainability of the supply chain. Additionally, in consistent with building long-term partnerships, SQMs spend time and effort providing training and on-site guidance to our suppliers.
Job responsibilities
• Drive suppliers to produce the highest quality parts.
• Ensure the supplier is ready for the ramp ups with parts that are ready to be put into the devices.
• Collecting data and compiling supplier scorecards; Present it to suppliers and lead the actions to improve the supplier.
• Willing to understand supplier manufacturing process in details, document their strengths and weaknesses and drive supplier to work towards making a world class manufacturing environment.
• Understand component specification and should be able to effectively communicate with Design team as well as sustaining Engineering team in case of an issue with part Quality.
• Should be able to tie up quality issues (OQC, IQC, Manufacturing, Field returns etc) with concrete actions at Supplier site (RCA, CA etc).
• Understand supplier corrective actions and be able to describe their experience relative to those processes.
• Interface with functional manager to establish daily, weekly, monthly and annual goals and milestones.
• Carry out supplier quality audits and validate the AVL list matches the approved suppliers.
• Establish a China based FAI capability and reporting process.
• Establish and implement processes for ensuring that all components sourced in China meet acceptable and recognized industry standards in terms of test, sampling, materials.
• Work with commodity management team to understand and highlight areas where quality and process within a specific supplier can be improved to reduce cost.
