The Opportunity

Oracle is building the next generation of cloud infrastructure that encompasses all layers from IaaS to SaaS and manages exabytes of customer data.  Helping our customers bring more of their data from on premise or third party clouds to oracle cloud and leverage it effectively in their business processes is a major focus area in this journey. In this regard the Data Integration and Governance team at Oracle Cloud is building and operating multiple industry leading services in a broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment. Responsibilities

 

Any TPM should be able to determine the health and success of the services they drive. Defining, implementing, tracking and reporting of KPIs are key in order to measure the success of the service. A TPM is responsible to define the success metrics of the service(s).

 

The role of the TPM differs materially from that of a project manager and a program manager. A TPM is able to drive issues beyond what a traditional program manager can do due to deeper technical skills and expertise. Similarly, a TPM can drive projects in more depth vs. a traditional program manager. A TPM possesses skills of that of a program manager, project manager with technical expertise that is relevant to the service. In part a TPM allows a service lead to scale and extend their reach.

 

As a senior technical program manager for the Data Integration and Governance organization of the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure division you will help the team in building and operating an intelligent, resilient and scalable multi-tenant cloud service. In this context you will\:

  • Drive the planning, design and execution processes for the team. The scope of influence is the immediate team and all its up- and downstream dependencies.
    • Define the milestones and timelines and is responsible for flagging the need for corrective actions in the team.
    • Help drive the scrum and other operational practices of the team effectively to support production cloud services, including creating and maintaining comprehensive project execution related metrics, dashboards and other documentation.
  • Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across Engineering, Product Management, Operations, Support, and other key stakeholders to define and deliver complex programs despite competing priorities by having the ability to influence roadmaps and priorities. Specifically
    • Engage with the Oracle cloud infrastructure platform and shared services teams to ensure seamless integration.
    • Engage with the platform and corporate architecture and security teams and assist the team in ensuring compliance as well as raise the bar with necessary standards and architecture patterns in terms of the cloud service overall architecture including high availability, disaster recovery, multi-tenancy management, replication etc.
    • Identify intra-team issues and drives them to resolution autonomously; identify and work with key stakeholders to drive issues to resolution.
    • Build strong relationships across teams to become a force multiplier.
  • Represent the product/team up to the Senior Director level independently and at a higher level with appropriate coaching.
    • Be the most knowledgeable person in the team about the execution, the trade-offs and the whys behind them.
    • Ability to explain your team's analyses and recommendations to leadership while discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers and product managers.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and resilience in response to changing or ambiguous situations, directing changes through appropriate review and approval mechanisms.
  • Imbibe the Oracle cloud infrastructure and corporate values in action and spirit 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • BS or MS degree in CS or equivalent experience relevant to functional area.
  • 5 years relevant experience.·
  • Experience in ensuring technical readiness for all phases of a product lifecycle
  • Experience in software design and coding in a modern programming language like Java
  • Knowledge and understanding of solutions for the overall cloud data management space including data migration, integration, management, and governance.
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies, continuous integration, and continuous deployment
  • Experience building enterprise software and/or cloud native services preferable
  • Naturally effective written and verbal communicator

Manage the development and implementation process of a specific company product involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products. Plan and direct schedules and monitor budget/spending. Monitor the project from initiation through delivery. Organize the interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget constraints. Assign and monitor work of systems analysis and program staff, providing technical support and direction.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex, needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 5 years of project management, product design or related experience preferred.
