Job Description
In this role, you will be guiding prospective clients and customers to learn more about the innovations that come with the Oracle Database. You will act as an evangelist and technical resource to help customers derive more value from Oracle by demonstrating key technical capabilities of the solution like high performance, high availability, ease of migration and upgrades, and multi-model database features. This is an individual contributor position, reporting to a Solution Engineering Director, who shall formulate strategy and execute customer engagements.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong technical and hands-on skills in the area of database design and database migration/upgrades
- Develop and deliver outstanding Oracle presentations and demonstrations with the goal of generating customer interest and demand
- Become a trusted adviser by sharing best practices on database management, database upgrades, and optimization to external clients
- Focus on large or complex sales opportunities requiring creative and complex solutions
- Keep current and updated on latest Oracle software releases and future directions, as well as competitive intelligence
- Demonstrate understanding of technical aspects of the sales process and can lead customer engagements through the technical sales process
- Ensure that key decisions and strategies are understood by stakeholders
- Actively participate in organizational skill exchanges and transfers expertise to others
- Demonstrate outstanding Corporate Citizenship by working with Oracle University, Product Management, and other organizations within Oracle
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, advanced degree highly desirable; Oracle certifications is preferred
- Minimum 8 years' technical experience with relevant computer applications or database/tools, presales experience is preferred but not required
- Oracle Experience: Minimum 5 years with Oracle Database and related technology around security, availability, manageability, upgrades, performance and scalability
- Expertise in his/her area(s) of focus with ability to demonstrate the most advanced product features eg. RAC, PART, Data Guard, Security, Enterprise Manager, Oracle Stream, PL/SQL and DB integration solution.
- Experience with database associated 3rd party technology and platform would be an added advantage. Eg. Clusterware. Middleware, Security, Availability and manageability
- Possess “best of breed” technical or functional sales knowledge that could be applied across an entire sales area in general or specific technical/functional categories.
- Thorough knowledge of system and application design
- In depth knowledge of competitors such DB2 and SQL Server
- Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems with accounts, in complex technical environments
- Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills: needs analysis, positioning, business justification, closing techniques. Must be able to persuade others through presentations, demonstrations and written communication
- Demonstrated strong leadership and ability to lead encouraging both individual and team accomplishments
- Has strong customer relationships with internal or external customer
As a Senior Sales Consultant you will be responsible for providing presales technical / functional support to prospective clients and customers while ensuring customer satisfaction with minimal supervision. Acts as a technical resource for less experienced Sales Consultants. Develop and deliver high quality standard Oracle presentations and demonstrations. Present and articulate advanced product features and benefits, product future direction and overall Oracle solutions. Design, validate, and present Oracle software solutions to include advanced product concepts, future direction, and 3rd party complimentary products. Develop and manage reference sites through high quality technical, professional client relationships.
Job duties are varied and complex, needing independent judgment. May have project lead role. 5 years vendor (sales and marketing) experience. 5 years relevant computer applications or database/tools. Demonstrated proficiency in one multi-user operating system. Through knowledge of system and application design. Strong verbal and written communication skills: needs analysis, positioning, business justification, closing techniques. Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with accounts in complex technical environments. Ability to travel as needed. BS degree or equivalent; advanced degree desirable.
