Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist guests regarding menu items in an informative and helpful way
- Order and settle bills to various payment media
- Follow restaurant policies, procedures and service standards
- Have full knowledge of beverage lists and promotions
- Have full knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents and preparation methods
- Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
- Other duties as assigned
All duties will be performed in accordance with The Fairmont Empress’
commitment to luxury service standards
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum two years recent (in the last five years) experience as a server in an “a la carte” dining
setting in an upscale, high volume restaurant OR combination of two (2) years as a Junior
Server, expeditor or equivalent AND one (1) year recent (in the last five years) experience as a
server in an “a la carte” dining setting in an upscale, high volume restaurant
- Serving It Right and Food Safe certificates
- Basic knowledge of a POS system
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to thrive in a busy environment
- A team player with proven success in relationship building
- A commitment to provide excellent service and exceeding expectations
- Completely fluent English language skills; both written and verbal
- Strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude
- Professional and impeccable grooming and presentation
- Physical ability to perform the requirements of the job, including:
- Standing/walking for extended periods of time
- Performing repetitive work
- Lifting and carrying full trays
NOTE: The position of Server is physically demanding. The successful applicant must be physically capable of performing repetitive work, standing and walking for long periods of time, as well as lifting and carrying a full tray long distances.
