Our team delivers cross-team visibility and execution on the most challenging reliability issues impacting Oracle's SaaS customers. We engage deeply with service owners and stakeholders to deeply understand and improve critical issues that impair service experience.

 

We’re looking for a talented and energetic DevOps engineer  to join our site reliability and engineering team. Help enhance the lives of customers by improving business critical HR, Finance and CRM solutions. You will work alongside with the application development and support teams to analyze and understand the various patterns of issues causing customer outages by digging deeper into the heap dumps, thread dumps and diagnostic log files. Based on your analysis, you will provide data driven insights into the system performance and identify the key opportunities to reduce the customer page load times, errors and outages. You will also play a key role in developing/enhancing several dashboards and tools, that are heavily used by the development and support teams for troubleshooting the key systematic issues affecting the performance, reliability and scalability.

Skills/experience

• 5 years of experience in a senior role on a DevOps/SRE  team
• Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery systems preferred
• Experience with supporting high scale, distributed, 24x7 systems and applications
• Strong experience in building automation and dashboards for harvesting and analyzing massive application logs.,
• At least 3-5 years Oracle Database technologies. Preferred knowledge and experience in Exadata. 
• At least 2-4 years Apache and Weblogic Server Administration.
• At least 2-4 years of experience in development using Python/Go/java/ etc., on Unix/Windows OS's
• Good understanding of Agile software development principles including using common tools such as JIRA
• Strong analytical and design skills
• Capacity for learning quickly in a fast paced environment and handling multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred

• Working with or supporting production, test, and development environments for large scale environments
• Experience in developing automation scripts for analyzing the log files and troubleshooting the fleetwide patterns
• Strong troubleshooting skills. Ability to come with best solution by capturing big picture instead of focusing on minor details. Root cause analysis
• Experience in a 24×7 high-availability production environment
• Good customer communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment 

 

!|!Solve complex problems related to infrastructure cloud services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence. Design, write, and deploy software to improve the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Oracle products and services. Design and develop designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems. Facilitate service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.

Work with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team on the shared full stack ownership of a collection of services and/or technology areas. Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services. Responsible for the design and delivery of the mission critical stack, with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance. Authority for end-to-end performance and operability. Partner with development teams in defining and implementing improvements in service architecture. Articulate technical characteristics of services and technology areas and guide Development Teams to engineer and add premier capabilities to the Oracle Cloud service portfolio. Understand and communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes, and requirements of the service and technology stack. Demonstrate clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles. Act as ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and their dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations. Understand and explain the affect of product architecture decisions on distributed systems. Professional curiosity and a desire to a develop deep understanding of services and technologies.

A BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent. Identifies solutions to knowledge of server hardware and software configuration, networking, standard internet services, scripting languages, cloud computing patterns, technology security and compliance. Experience running large scale customer facing web services. Identifies solutions to understanding of load balancing technologies and experience with development in programming languages, databases and big data stores, and container technologies. Work involves defining and documenting technical architecture of complex and highly scalable products. A minimum of 5 years experience of running large scale customer facing web services.
