Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
(OCI) combines the elasticity and utility of public cloud with the granular
control, security, and predictability of on-premises infrastructure to deliver
high-performance, high availability and cost-effective infrastructure services.
Multiple compute options provide the flexibility to run the most demanding
workloads, as well as less compute-intensive applications, in a secure and
highly available cloud environment. Customers can self-service provision
virtual machines right alongside bare metal servers and clusters on the same
virtual cloud networks, through a unified web console, APIs, CLI or via
industry standard tools such as Terraform and Chef. OCI’s approach gives the
customer choices for storage us industry leading local NVME storage or elastic
network block storage.
We support cloud solutions for
the U.S. Intelligence Community. This requires a candidate to be a U.S. citizen
holding and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
What you’ll do
·
Design,
build, develop and maintain automation services, scripts, and tools
·
Configure
and tune monitoring and instrumentation system(s) to efficiently detect
existing issues and predict future issues based on trends
·
Lead
and evangelize operational excellence, including designing and executing
gameday exercises for failure scenarios
·
Collaborate
with service owners to ensure important metrics are being monitored
·
Lead
root cause analysis, effectively implement identified preventive measures, use
data to identify the scope and scale of impact
Basic Qualifications
·
Qualified
candidates have current Top Secret clearance.
·
3
years experience, including DevOps, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), and
on-call rotations, working on highly scalable distributed systems
·
5
years experience with at least one programming and/or scripting language
(Python, Java, Go, Ruby, etc.)
·
5
years experience with Linux/Unix systems administration.
·
Strong
interpersonal communication skills (including listening, speaking, and writing)
and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment with other
SREs, Engineers, Product Managers, etc.
·
A
team-player attitude
·
This
position requires the candidate selected be a U.S. citizen and must currently
possess an active Top-Secret security clearance. The position further requires,
after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI
security clearance with polygraph and satisfy other security related
requirements
Desired
Qualifications
·
Experience
automating common tasks with scripts and open source tools.

Knowledge
of VCS (e.g. git, svn)
·
Ability
to troubleshoot complex operational issues within a microservice-based
architecture
·
Knowledge
of data structures, relational and non-relational databases, networking, Linux
internals, filesystems, web architecture, CI/CD principles
·
A
solid understanding of cloud-based architectures
·
Experience
deploying or managing servers in large-scale, geographically diverse
environments
·
Strong

SREs, Engineers, Product Managers, etc.
Work with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team on the shared full stack ownership of a collection of services and/or technology areas. Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services. Responsible for the design and delivery of the mission critical stack, with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance. Authority for end-to-end performance and operability. Partner with development teams in defining and implementing improvements in service architecture. Articulate technical characteristics of services and technology areas and guide Development Teams to engineer and add premier capabilities to the Oracle Cloud service portfolio. Understand and communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes, and requirements of the service and technology stack. Demonstrate clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles. Act as ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and their dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations. Understand and explain the affect of product architecture decisions on distributed systems. Professional curiosity and a desire to a develop deep understanding of services and technologies.
A BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent. Identifies solutions to knowledge of server hardware and software configuration, networking, standard internet services, scripting languages, cloud computing patterns, technology security and compliance. Experience running large scale customer facing web services. Identifies solutions to understanding of load balancing technologies and experience with development in programming languages, databases and big data stores, and container technologies. Work involves defining and documenting technical architecture of complex and highly scalable products. A minimum of 5 years experience of running large scale customer facing web services.
