Java Senior Developer/Developer Advocate – Project Helidon

We are looking for an experienced engineer sharing developer advocate and software developer roles.

The selected individual will popularize several key components of project Helidon, MicroProfile and Jakarta EE by developing sample applications, posting blog articles, recording videos, talking on conferences, working with community and customers. This person is a main communication channel between developers and the community explaining new product features and proper use of them as well as providing feedback back to the development team. Another part of this role is participating in development of project Helidon components, implementing new MicroProfile specifications and participating in Jakarta EE specifications development.

Requirements\:

• Prior experience working as developer advocate or on similar position
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in preparing and delivering conference sessions, live demos and hands-on labs
• Strong understanding of Microservice architectures
• Prior experience developing server-side components and solutions
• Experience in working with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience using and developing RESTful APIs with technologies such as JAX-RS, JSON
• Experience using Java EE/Jakarta EE
• Experience using Java microservices frameworks like Micronaut, Quarkus, SpringBoot
• Expert level programming skills in Java
• Strong understanding of HTTP protocol, WebSocket, SSE, and other web technologies.

Additional nice to have skills\:

• Active social network profiles with significant number of followers
• Experience in recording screencasts and videos for further posting on YouTube

!|!Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.
