Software Engineer

 

Oracle Hospitality (Cruise) is developing the exciting Next-Generation Cruise solution to enable our customers in the cruise industry to provide superior service and experience to their guests. Thus, we are seeking for the BEST talent in the industry to join our talented team! As a Software Engineer, you will apply your expertise and energy to define the design and develop application modules with a user interface on web browsers, mobile devices, etc.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc. Technical skillset requirement includes .NET framework, Java, JavaScript, Oracle Database, REST API, Windows Forms, Web App and familiar with modern software architecture framework.

• Work in an Agile team.
• You will be assigned to a cross-functional and self-organizing team to deliver the backlog items of the backlog.
• You must be a good team player.
• Work primarily as a software developer in the Agile team. Tasks may include:
  • Writing Functional Specifications,
  • Writing Design Documentation,
  • Coding,
  • Perform Code Review,
  • Unit Testing,
  • Debugging & Troubleshooting,
  • Integrating with other applications,
  • Performance Tuning, and
  • Maintenance of existing Cruise Products (Sustaining Engineering).

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Engineering or related (Ideally in Computer science or engineering) 

2+ years of software development experience

Preferred Skills:

• Minimum 2+ years of object-oriented design/programming experience
• 2 to 6 years’ experience programming in Microsoft technology platform and languages (VB.Net, C#).
• Good working knowledge with Oracle DB, SQL and PL/SQL creating packages, functions and triggers.
• Desirable working experience with VB6, .Net Framework, XML, HTML, Web Services, WPF preferred.
• Ability to understand and explain complex information simply and accurately. 
• Demonstrated ability in problem-solving and in the defect resolution process. 
• Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential. 
• Experience with automated test tools including performance and load testing. (Optional)
• Ability to quickly understand an organization’s business functions. 
• Strong communication and personal skills: work well with members of functional groups in a project team; demonstrate a strong sense of project ownership

As a member of the software engineering division, you will apply basic to intermediate knowledge of software architecture to perform software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications or operating systems according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.

Duties and tasks are standard with some variation; displays understanding of roles, processes and procedures. Performs moderately complex problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 1 year of software engineering or related experience.
