Amazon Exports and Expansion (AEE), one of Amazon most customer-centric division, is aiming at bringing homelike seamless customer experience of cross-broader shopping to customers around the globe.

We enable customers from over 77 countries to purchase products on Amazon with guaranteed shipping and import duty fees. We seek to improve this experience by making selection available across all Amazon marketplaces, so that customers can search and browse in their preferred language and currency.

Software engineers in Amazon are engaged at the earliest time of feature planning and are the core groups who directly impact decision making and business directions.

Key job responsibilities
An Software Dev Engineer in AEE tech team takes a key role in design and implementation of business features. As the team’s foremost goal is to bring features with business values to our customers, The SDE in the team is responsible for helping the team to obtain in depth understanding of a feature with a proper scope of the work, proposing technical designs, independently conducting the implementation including coding and testing, and delivering the result within timely framework.

An SDE in AEE tech team incorporates best practice and operational excellence in the course of building, operating and maintaining applications and features on different platforms. As AEE team operates critical services that directly serve customers and also interacts with various internal and external partners, miss-operations may result in direct customer impact with financial loss for Amazon, therefore the SDE in the team needs to identify, propose and execute best practices to prevent service errors, deployment failures, and logic mistakes due to missing best practice or operation excellence in code, configuration and maintenance.

An SDE in AEE tech team is capable of communicating with Amazon internal business or internal tech teams as well as external third-parties. As AEE team operates features directly serving Amazon customers, the SDE needs to obtain a good understanding of the feature from business team when developing it.


An SDE in AEE tech team has key influence over the team in the course of developing features, and is also capable of training and mentoring new teammates. When developing features with teammates, the SDE takes responsibility in consulting on relevant documents, leveraging the right design approach for tech design, proposing design solutions and making sure the team has acquired proper knowledge during the course of the implementation. When coaching teammates, the SDE devotes proper time and effort and uses appropriate language on educating teammates with the knowledge that they need to kick-off the work. When attending team meetings, the SDE demonstrates his/her influence over the team by participating the discussion and driving to a conclusion.
