Java Core Libraries Support Manager

Join the Java Platform Group (JPG) and be part of the team which delivers Java across the IT industry. We are looking for someone who is passionate about getting teams to work together to address our customer’s Java needs, providing high touch interactions and addressing mission critical issues.  You will also help drive improvements in Java Support ensuring that customer’s issues are dealt with in a timely and effective way.

Your focus will be to deliver support and solutions to Oracle’s Java customers and serving as an advocate for their needs, resolving inquiries and issues with regards to their use of Java technologies. You will be a primary point of contact for customers and responsible for facilitating their relationships with Support..  You will direct and assist Java Support engineers to manage diverse customer situations and escalated issues.

Roles and Responsibilities:

•       Drive the effective resolution of customer issues alongside strategic projects 

•       Operate efficiently in a demanding environment, maintaining composure, demonstrate leadership, and communicate in an exemplary manner

•       Manage technical engineers and facilitate their success

•       Identifying technical engineer training and development needs

•       Lead collaboration within the JPG as well as with Oracle Support teams, Sales teams, and other groups as needed  

 

Preferred Qualifications:

•       Extensive experience with the Java

•       7-10 years of experience in customer engagements and customer facing service delivery roles

•       BSc. in Computer Science or equivalent (Masters a plus)

•       Strong English verbal and written communications skills; able to communicate complex ideas and topics to multiple audiences

•       Ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting needs, with a goal of driving issues to closure

•       Ability to identify relevant data to create and deliver reports and presentations

•       Experience managing a globally distributed team

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.

Leads a specialized area which may have diverse functional elements. Frequently interacts with supervisors and/or functional peer group managers. May interact with senior management. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. Typically one year of software engineering or related experience.
